I'm awake now *shudder*

posted 18th May '12
It's 1 in the morning but I'm wide awake. My LO woke up crying. I half woke up and went to nurse her back to sleep (we co-sleep) when I felt something tickling my breast. I went to scratch and realized it was a bug crawling on me. Still half awake I tried to squish it and it wouldn't squish. That was when I realized it was a smurfing tick crawling up my boob.     I freaked out, sat upright, brushed it off onto the bed and squashed it on my dresser with the wipes container. Freaking gross!!! *shudder* The ticks here are awful. I haven't even been outside except to the shed and back into the house yesterday. There isn't any getting back to sleep for me after that.

if it's a tick you should either cut it in half or flush it down the toilet cause smushing it wont help.
at least thats what we have to do with the ticks here in Illinois. lol

The first sign of ticks i washed, dipped, and put drops on the dog and sprayed the inside of the house. Havent seen one since. The ticks can be terible out here and the vet said shes already had alof of cases of sick dogs from getting the animal version of the rocky mountain spotted fever. I will be doing everything i can to keep them off of us and out of the house.

Oh, I made sure that thing was quite dead. They are a pain in the butt to squish but I completely flattened it by putting it on my dresser and using the wipes container. I didn't stop until it was definitely a goner, I don't take any chances.

We have deer ticks here and one of the highest rates of lyme disease in the country. Since we had such a mild winter they have been really bad this year. There is nothing that grosses me out more then ticks and slugs.

The only pet I have is an indoor cat. I have to check the kids after they play in our yard. They hang out in the grass and climb on people if they pass by. They are everywhere this year. I found one hanging out on the outside of the shed next to the door handle a few days ago and killed it. We don't even have tall grass in our yard.
