Epidural?

So I don't know whether or not I want to get an epidural when I go into labor or not but either way I'd like to have the option open, but I got thinking about it and don't they say if you have a tattoo on your lower back you can't get one? I've also heard that if you have had it for a long time it doesn't matter - I've had mine for 3 years... so anyone else heard this or anyone else have lower back tattoos and know about this? O and here's a pic, I don't know if it matters or not but I figured it might help

I have a tattoo on my lower back and I was still able to have one. I've heard that too but I don't think it really has any relevance to it. I think you'll be fine  

Why do they not do them on the tattoo? So they wont scar? I have one there too and i've always wondered that

It all depends on the hospital. I had two options where to deliver and one hospital wouldnt do an epi on a tattoo. Its causewhen going through the tattoo they can get ink in your blood and possibly into your spine if its to new, thats what i was told..

I've never heard of that.Ask your doctor next time you see them!Oh if you can go w/o the epidural I will truly respect you and anyone else that didn't have one lol.

so the ink doesnt enter the bloodstream. it doesnt matter if its your lower back, its just if its higher up like near the center of your back sort of since thats where they stick it. this girl i know had a tattoo there and had a 12 pound baby!! she couldnt have the epi....that would be painful.. but yea you should be good. that is a cute tattoo.

I want to go so bad w/o one and everyones like why! I was like idk to see what its like this isn't going to be my only child I could compare the two and say that I have done it w/o one!

I couldn't handle the contractions,but I'm a wimp when it comes to pain!
Right before I had the epidural done I was sitting there crying telling my Fiance' that I couldn't do it(Talking about going through the rest of labor) lol.

yea thats what my thinking was too, but i caved lol. i went my whoooole pregnancy without any drugs no tylenol or anything and my plan was to go the whole way without any but i couldnt do it   haha...the epi did make childbirth a lot more of pleasent experience though instead of remember the pain i remember everything else.

I was able to relax and get ready for the pushing.
I felt nothing when I was pushing,just pressure.
I can't believe how easy it was,and I was so scared about how bad it was going to hurt and how tiring it would be,but I won't be having anymore babies for a veryy long time lol.

haha I will probalby cave too im just terrified of the needle too but I guess when I get contractions that might be the last thing on my mind is having a huge needle in my back to relieve the pain i'll probably be begging for it

oh i know same here, i keep thinking i want another one soon but then i think of it and it scares me haha. like i dont even know if i want anymore ever. if i do i soo want the epi again though i couldnt believe how well it worked my friend told me it wored really good but i didnt htink it would be THAT good lol, all i felt was pressure too...and i was really warm and cozy too haha.

i swear you cant even feel the needle when your contractions get that bad like mine were getting to be in the hundreds and the needle actually felt soothing to be honest..it was cold...but it took my mind off the contractions for a bit and kicked it soooo fast. it was so weird i never though a needle that big would be soothing in any way lol.

The only thing I felt when they was giving the epidural was when they was numbing me for it and it felt like a bee sting!! I can't believe it worked that well either!!! The only thing that sucks about it is that you just use the bathroom all over yourself lol. I was up walking an 1 1/2 after I had my baby tehe
