What age did you start proteins?

posted 1st May
I was curious what age everyone started giving their babies protein? My pedi said 8 months cause I'm doing soy & egg (no meat) and I was wondering if that is the norm.

hmm good question..I started Jake on the meat baby foods at like 6 months I believe...maybe a little later. And he only got them for dinner. I know sometimes it can be hard for them to digest if given too young.

I was told never to give eggs before 1 year old because it can cause an allergy.

I'm not doing meat either, but I just wanted to suggest doing beans (legumes) for protein. They are my daughters favorite. She loves black beans. She will eat as many as I give her and they are great little finger foods!

Oh, and I started her at 8 months on beans and plain organic yogurt. I haven't done egg yet.

Maybe she has a milk allergy? I know yogurt is okay for lactose intolerance, but I believe a milk allergy is different.

Yep! There are a few on here!

While they are on breastmilk (or formula), I was told not to worry too much about her getting enough protein. My doctor told me that the main thing to make sure for now is that she is getting enough iron. I am slowly introducing things.
