tell me what you think about this shower idea

posted 1st May
Well i posted this on yahoo answeres and nobody liked the idea they said it sounded like i would be milking my guests from their money. tell me what you think
I was thinking about buying a gift basket with yankee candles bath and body works products ad raffling it off at my shower for only 1.00 a ticket. and the money we get from the raffle will go on buying the small baby things like washes lotions ETC. Im not playing much games and figured this would be somthing fun to do. hardley anyone except family will be at the shower im a stay at home mom so i dont have any co workers or anything. just a few personal friends. but the ppl on yahoo answeres said it sounded horrible n cheezy...which i dont want i wanted it to be somthing fun.

u could do a gift basket and everyone who bring diapers could get a ticket. One of my friends coworkers did that and it turned out well

yeah i was gonna say that.. we're doing something like that. for every 20 diapers or whatever you bring you get put in a raffle

what we did for the money thing, was everyone passed around babies first piggy bank, and everyone was asked to put in a dollar, and that was the babies money for 'college' but, sadly, we ended up needing it to buy baby stuff, and replaced the money later! but I don't think your idea is a bad idea.. are you still going to do presents for your guests? adn if it is a small shower then have you thought abou the fact that you could potentially spend more on the basket itself than you would get from raffle tickets for it?

my co-workers actually did that for me. They did a gift basket with all kinds of different things in it and sold the tickets at my shower they gave me at work. They sold almost 150.00 in raffle tickets

I think that it is a little tacky to do if you are throwing yourself the shower, if a friend is throwing the shower for you and the friend does the basket then it wouldn't be that bad. I think that having a friend pass a baby's first piggie bank would be a better thing to do. People are already coming and giving you gifts, asking them to buy raffle tickets seems like a little much.

What my cousin is doing at my shower (she is throwing it) she put a note in the invite that said forevery pack of diapers all sizes you would get a raffle ticket then she would draw one at the end....and she put together a gift basket with a gift card and bath and body works stuff in it
a friend of our familydid this at there shower and it worked out extremely well for them
