Implonon Users

Okay ladies I need some much needed advice about Implonon. I've done lots of research on the pros, cons, side effects, etc. But I want to know what actual users have to say. What side effects have you experienced, how long have you been on it, have you experienced any benefits, and would you recommend it as a form of birth control or not? TIA!!

BC is NOT meant for my body either. I've gotten pregnant on the pill, the patch, IUD, and this current pregnancy was Nuvaring. Depo makes me severely sick and causes severe side effects that the doctors can't explain so they took me off of it after two shots and said I should never go on it again. *sigh* I don't really have any other options at this point other than Implonon or getting my tubes tied.

i love it. had it for almost 2 years, and have no complaints. i don't get my period, and i just had my first ever on this bout with old blood sheading which is over now.

i plan to get it put right back in when my 3 years are up.

Yeah I'm not 100% on getting fixed either. It is after all a permanent decision. This baby is mine and SO's first together and were not sure what the future holds 5 years from now. I'm sure it would make my family happy if I did. They've been kind of pressuring me to get it done since my divorce from my ex husband four years ago.   Hopefully you will have better luck than me finding something that will work for you. lol

I've been on it a little over a year now (got in april 2011) I had no period the first 2-3 months, then after that I had a month long period until right before the year mark for it. I'm just now starting to get regular periods again. I haven't gained or lost weight because of it, I do get headaches from it (I've had my wisdom teeth removed and have glasses to help with headaches, so I know its not from either of those lol) I don't cramp and I'm just starting to really like it. Lol I've heard other women say they had 3-4 week long periods while on it, so it seems to be a common thing with it...

If someone asked me a few months ago if I would recommend it, I would have said no. Now, I don't mind it. Lol

So it took you a year to adjust, huh?? I suffer from migraines anyway and am extremely sensitive to the hormones in BC which can cause me headaches as well   I like the no weight gain and I can handle irregular periods as long as I don't get pregnant..again lol So have the headaches been consistent the whole year you've been on it? Have the gotten better or less frequent over time??

I got headaches before anyways, I should have mentioned this, so I may go a week without one, or I may get 3-4 in a week. It seems to finally be getting a little better though. And yeah, a year to regulate. Lol I thought about getting it removed right before they started to regulate, glad I didn't because I hated depo, I don't trust that i'd remember the pill, and the whole IUD and nuvaring freak me out a little bit. Lol

I love the pill. Have no problem remembering to take it, it's just not effective for me because I'm too fertile. Had a doctor tell me this. My mom also got pregnant on the pill and never missed. Guess it just runs in the family LOL IUD wouldn't stay in place had it placed twice and got pregnant the second time. Nuvaring isn't bad but again just didn't work for me. Don't blame you though. You do have to kinda dig in there to get it out LOL (sorry tmi)
