baby gate advise?

posted 1st May
my husband and i have 2 dogs we we're definately gonna need gates so when the baby is playing on the floor the dogs cant come in the room...plus hes in the Army and we're bout to be moving to Va and looking at the baase housing they have its all townhouse style so all the bedrooms are upstairs so ill need a gate at the top and at the bottom of the stairs...anyone have anyadvice on gate that they got? any that you wouldn't suggest or any that you think are really good?
i found this one on walmart.com that thought it might be pretty good. for the already moms out there can you tell me if there'd be any problems with it that maybe i haven't thought of?

I am just wondering do you have big dogs or little dogs? Just cuz I have really big dogs that could just jump over the baby gates, and one of my dogs messed up his back from jumping over it, so if you have big dogs you ight want to look into that too!

That's my problem. I have a german shepard that refused to be locked behind a gate....of any kind. Please let me know if you find one that is 'big dog'-proof.

Here are the ones I have. I have 2 black labs. I out them a little higher so they cant jump over them and my cats can go under them. We use them to block my daughter out of our bathroom where the cat litter box and food is. I have one in my hall do keep her in the back of the house or the front and I have them blocking my kitchen because we have learnd to climb and she stands on my table so we had to block her from their.

I have 3 of these

Yea we just installed it a little higher from the groun than normal, so they can not jump over them anymore, and the cats just go under them, and the baby cant get underthem either. I would say that is what you are going to have to do, cuz with having a big dog they dont make them all enough for them not to jump over!!

this is the gates we have!!

but i just saw this one and I might had to give it a try!!1

it looks really high.

I hate the plastic one because the dogs jump on it when they are muddy and get it all dirty, and it sucks trying to clean it!!!

WE're going to Ft. Eusits... =] its suppose to be really pretty in Va.

Well, myhusband has a blue heeler that bout a year and a half ans so hes kinda the smaller sideof medium. -lol-
then my dog is a black lab/rottweiler (sp) mix but somehow she ended up being small. shes almost 2 now and can still sit in my lap [as long as shes not sitting on my stomach] -lol- but shes heavy and likes to jump fences whenshes tired of being in the yard...

The one problem I see with that gate is that you would be constantly putting it up and taking it down. This is the gate we have:
It is pressure mounted (I have put my full weight against it and it doesn't budge) so you wouldn't have to worry about putting holes in the wall, and it stays up as long as you want it to. There is also one that is taller if needed for the dogs.
