circumcision info video (NOT D&D!!)

This is not posted in D&D. Please be respectful. I just wanted to share this video. It's very informative. Yes, it's about 30 minutes long, but it's worth watching. My point is just to pass information on. Knowledge is power.

I think there are various ways it's done (to hold them down).

Overall though, I am really just SHOCKED that this is still routinely done. I've never really had strong feelings either way. Even after I learned more about circ'ing, I still didn't think it was a HUGE deal one way or the other, but was glad we decided against it, but after watching that and learning even just the history of it, I would be shocked to see someone who could watch that and still advocate circ'ing.

Im glad that I chose my son to be just like his dad..intact. now I learn about the subject Im shocked.

I'm surprised by a lot of people do, honestly. My (cut) husband and I were very against the idea, so we left our son intact.

I had in my mind an image of what it would be like, but the video of the procedure made my cry   after I watched it, I showed hubby and he was so upset. He was circ as an infant, and after doing research on it, it is hard for him, I think, because it can not be undone to him...

I thought the video was informative, but in a way that was easy to watch, not boring. He even brought a bit of humor into a subject that is difficult to stomach and that made it easier to watch.

I think some ppl ignore the facts because it is hard to accept that they are mutilated, and that their parents did that to them. I know for hubby, when I first started researching it, hubby was ok with leaving a future boy if we had one intact, but he was not open to hearing about it. when he did open up to me sharing facts with him, he was truly upset that the choice that was made for him that can not be taken back. I can relate, as I am married and I love him, but some issues I have had with discomfort during sex, I do not think would be an issue with sn intact man. A choice that was made 35 years sgo, and we are still paying for it. I think for some, it is easier to live in denial.

I couldn't watch actual circ video part. even just the sound nearly brought me to tears. There are more people / groups I'd like to share the video with, but I'm still hesitant too, as I don't want them to feel guilty. Some JUST got their babies circ'd a few days ago and are having issues, so I think it's too sensitive a time to share something like this. Even though I do think it's presented well and not in a "you're a bad parent" / condemning type of way.

I shared it on my FB page & just said I was not judging, just sharing info, but got no comments or likes   hubbyvwants it posted to today. i think it is unlikely many will sit for the whole video

don't be discouraged though. I mean, look how far it's come already! My friend posted the video and I was hesitant to click because it was 30 minutes, but she said it was worth it, so I did and then I passed it on, on here and wasn't sure if anybody would bother to watch the whole thing, but quite a few of you did.

I think just getting the info OUT there is half the battle. Even if just one person clicks it or shares it, that's one more person with more knowledge than they had before and one more person that can pass it on. =D

Thats a very good point. I watched it, and I don't even have a baby boy.... I am thankful that I did! I am just blessed I had a baby girl, because, had she been a boy, she would have been circ   I was very ununinformed & am glad for people posting things like this! It has saved me from making a huge mistake if I ever have a son!
