re: circumcision info video (NOT D&D!!)

Don't feel bad. A lot of people choose to be ignorant on the subject, unfortunately... They stick up for what's normal for them. IDK. I know a lot of people who think I'm hateful to those who circumcise just because I try to spread facts.

Hubby was talking to a girl today who had her son circ, he told her about the video, & she asked if he knew the name, he did not so he gave her my #.. well, she actually called! I am very excited about the fact that she was openminded enough to watch it

My husband feels the same way, and he's disgusted that it's done to other babies, in this day and age.

Nice...like the OP said...knowledge is power! She may have already had it done to her son, but she can use the new info to make a better choice next time, and/or to educate her son so that he doesn't continue the cycle with his own children.

when my son was born- he had hypospadius and chordee...so he had to be circ'd to use the extra skin to fix those issues...and that was AWFUL..seriously..he was 6 months old...and the recovery was horrible....I am praying this one is a girl so DH and I don't have to argue this b/c i refuse to circ my next son..if he wants it later on- then he can have it done- that's fine....but it'll be his choice...And honestly- THIS video just changed my mind. Before I was going to let DH decide...

I think its what moms says; not both parents... IMO its not the fathers choice. I feel you on the circ issue, I placed my youngest son for adoption and they had him circ'd. I understand if I said no they would have done it anyway but still, it sucks. Im glad for you to stand strong on the issue. lol.

They can't do it if one parent objects, I believe. And you have to vocalize your objection, and then watch your child, since in many hospitals circumcision is so normal, they might just do it without checking consent forms.

I really didn't have an opinion on it- I just know what my son went through for his surgery was horrible... awful...then he got an infection, but I know it was necessary- his urethra was very far down on the shaft of his penis..so it needed repair.
I will talk to my Doctor about it next appt, b/c I believe he told her YES if it was a boy last appt he went to..
I just don't know how to convince him...he believes all the clean stuff, and what people have been saying for years...and I KNOW he will not watch this whole video...

How is that so? With my oldest they didnt ask my ex if he wanted him to be circ'd. I believe with Ethan, they asked me if I wanted him circ'd and after I said yeah they asked me if I wanted to watch. And then they went to the adoptive dads to see if they wanted to watch.

no he's not closed minded..he's been open to A LOT of things...as far as the video- he's just super busy and hardly gets any time to do what he needs to do..lol..I just meant I know he'll look at some things but I doubt he'll sit through a half an hour video. And like most people- he's not educated about it.

yeah that's kind of what I meant..like if there is a shorter vid about the specifics..and maybe the procedure..I want him to see and hear that baby..I just remember he had SUCH a hard time with my sons surgery- and maybe I should remind him how similar it is.
