New Rules of Lifting for women

posted 13th May '12
Anyone else reading/doing this regimen?
I just got the book in the mail and am going to start the workout portion on Monday.

If you haven't heard of this book, it focuses more on weight lifting and diet. Cardio is only involved if you want to do it.

I saw some awesome results om myfitnesspal and I've really wanted to start heavy weight lifting so I figured I would need a workout program for that.

For those who have done it,
What were your results? Were you able to stick with it and complete the whole thing (I think it's a 6 month program)? How was your diet and did you do cardio?

I love this book!!! I haven't completed a whole program or anything, I'll admit, but even after less then a month of half/assing it (I did work outs but did them in my own order and all) I lost a bunch of inches and I could feel how much stronger I was!

The book is also hilarious. I think I laughed a great many times, but presents a lot of good information. Personally I WAY prefer strength training. The only cardio I really did was lifestyle cardio (as in, chasing the kids, stuff like that). I still lose quite a few inches though. I need to get back on it!

I cant wait to start. I was so confused by the way he describes the set up of workouts (A A1,B1 etc) but finally figured it out thanks to nrolfw group on mfp.
Im going to miss cardio. I was one of those who would do cardio for an hr and a half to two hours. But he's so right that cardio really is more for endurance.
Did you do the pro jacknife (ball at your shins and you roll into like a handstand position and then out)at the gym? I feel like im going to be embrassed about doing those in public. Lol

I just started the program 2 weeks ago and can see a great increase in my strength already. While I haven't been taking measurements my clothes are fitting better too.
I havent been sticking to the meal plan 100% though.

I am also doing all of the workouts from home!
(I bought all my equipment piecemeal from kijiji and craigslist)

ETA: I still do cardio. 30 mins on the treadmill 3X a week.

I'm going to do the first stage without cardio and see how my body responds. If I'm not losing inches or weights, I'll probably start to add in cardio.

I'm going to try and stick to the calories but not so much their recommended meals. Some of their meals involve too many ingredients that I don't want to gather for just one meal. On my off days I'm at 1,700 something calories (can't remember exact numbers) and on workout days 2,065. That's with a 300 calorie deficit. I know the book recommended not to do a deficit the first month but without one, the calories just seem so high.
