Does my 36 weeker have GERD?

My son is 2.5 weeks old born at 36 weeks well im breastfeeding him and he chokes on it like my flow is too heavy but not every feeding and its only once then he feeds ok. He feeds for 10 minutes every hour sometimes 20 minutes, after he eats I keep him upright for 30 minutes then lay him down and he gets the hiccups and spits up then becomes very fussy and arches his back. He barely sleeps in his bassinet, hes only comfortable upright laying on me. My first born which is my 24 weeker had acid reflux but that was 3 years ago and all I remember is he was inconsolable and just totally different altogether..please help....

Are you burping him? And my LO pediatrician said at least one spit up a day is normal for infants. Try putting him on his side. I do this to LO because he hates being on his back most of the time. To keep him from rolling over I just roll up some baby blankets and wedge one close to his stomach and another behind his back. That way he won't go any where and he feels secure enough to stay asleep.

Also, see if you can start giving your LO gas drops. I don't know the minimum age requirement.

Sounds like it. It also sounds like a common occurrence in premature babies. My son was a 35wkr and still has GERD at 15mths. We breastfed as well. Is he upset when he throws up? And is he gaining weight? It the answer is no and yes, you don't need to worry (says my pedi). That was our case.

My son was born at 36wks and also had gerd. Dr put him on liquid zantex 3x a day hes 8.5months now and hes down to once a day. Its gotten much better but before it was so bad he couldnt sleep untol he was almost sitting up
