Apparently NC did, too. Sort of. Because they have to offer to see the fetus and hear the heartbeat, but the woman doesn't have to see it if she doesn't want to.

"The law prohibits an abortion unless a woman is provided with state-specified information about the physician at least 24 hours in advance. Women also would get information about the likely stage of development of the unborn child, the medical risks of having an abortion and giving birth, and the availability of abortion alternatives.
Majority Republicans said the measure is designed to give women more information about what happens in an abortion and who is providing it. Social conservatives praised the bill, which also requires a woman consider an offer to see the shape of the fetus and hear a heartbeat."

OP: Google "abortion law *insert your state*" to see if there is one.

I had an abortion at 6 weeks (but I'm not sure about different state laws) and I would say two hours is a good estimate. They do a lot of background stuff/take blood/vitals/etc and then I met with a doctor who gave me a u/s to verify how far along I was and I had the option of seeing the screen or not. Then they gave me several shots in my cervix to numb it, dilate it, and do vacuum aspiration. Which you can google if you'd like, I don't wanna go into more detail. Then they gave me a bunch of different pills to take and said I could continue about my day. Really bad cramps and bleeding for the first few days, though.

the laws in every state are different, now my views on abortion are important, but I can say I believe most places council the individual to make sure this is what they really want. I had a friend abort twins very early on and she said they treated her horribly. I couldn't understand that as it was an abortion clinic but here they seem to make woman go through the US and heart beat as a way to try to change their mind I guess. Good luck to her I'll sat a prayer

Jersey is relatively decent when it comes to the pre-procedure . . they will do a dating ultrasound . They'll do a small amount of counseling. But in NJ, they are reluctant to show ultrasounds and have Doppler's to a mom who has already decided to terminate.

Okay what is this bullsmurf about a law being passed where the mother-to-be has to see the ultrasound and hear the heartbeat before she gets an abortion!? Do they WANT to traumatize her!? Ugh I can't believe this smurf, honestly I can't. It disgusts me. People should just leave well enough alone and let women decide what is best for THEIR bodies without governmental pressure!!

I think that she should take Mifeprex, the abortion pill, as soon as possible before she has to get a surgical abortion.

I know. I'm worried shell be traumatised if forced to see that, especially it being her first baby. And yea, I told her to see if she can get the pill abortion. You just wait at home till the baby is expelled right?
