Circumcision..

A friend on FB asked this question, "why are so many mom's against circumcision?" (sp) I've wondered for awhile, but never thought to ask &I really have no idea, considering I only have girls... Input please? Thanks(:

because its a cosmetic surgery....

Because they can be.. Everything other than that is based solely on personal opinions and values.

Because it's a cosmetic surgery for an infant that permanently changes the way their genitals are meant to function. Harms a healthy body part and infringes on their bodily rights.

It's an unnecessary surgery. Yes, there are cases where babies/men have emergency circumcisions but it's rare. And if the foreskin wasn't supposed to be there, it wouldn't be there.

Because they feel they're taking away something from their sons that should be his decision an because it's an unneeded procedure.

Because its unnecessary. Painful. Traumatizing. And like I said. Pointless traumatizing pain for a newborn.

I too have a girl but I would not circumcise my son. I'm not against those who chose to do it. That is their decision. And I'm not anyone to tell another mother what to do with their child. For me, and my future son, it's not gonna happen.




No offense to those who have decided it was for them and their son.

I am against it for my kids because it has risks and no substantial benefits. It's an elective basically cosmetic procedure that children can die from. Most other countries don't do it for secular reasons, so I saw no reason to put my child through that or take that choice away from him.

Again, this is for MY kids. I don't look down on other parents choice. I may argue a bit because I like to debate, and I'll debate the reasoning behind it, but I don't think parents are bad for having it done.

There's no proven medical benefit and frankly I think it's mutilation. And perhaps most importantly, It's not my body and therefore not my choice.

Because it's genital mutilation, forced upon a newborn innocent child by the parents he completely depends on, for "cosmetic" reasons.

(obviously not referring to medical circumcision)

America is the only developed country that still routinely circumcises its infants for non-religious purposes. I personally think its sick that a woman would have cosmetic surgery performed on their son because of what SHE personally prefers in a sexual partner
