Ahh I can't stand it!!

posted 10th May '12
My son will not stop clawing at his face, and my face. He smacks my glasses off, pulls my necklaces, earings, septum ring. Everything he gets his hands on he breaks and pulls off. And smacks. He is always slapping me in the face. My god it takes everything in me to not yell at him. He even does it to himself! He always has scratches on his nose, eyes, and inner ears because he wont stop tugging and scratching. I cut his nails every couple days but still because he does it so much he gets cuts. He's a happy baby though, always laughing and smiling. He is just way too hyper, and crazy. What is wrong with him?? it doesn't seem normal. I used to have to resraint his arms at night because it got so bad.

when you put him to bed, after he falls asleep you can put socks on his hands. They stay on tighter then those mitten things.

I did use socks for a while. He would just rip them off. And eat them. Like a crazy person. It was a choking hazard. But he does most of this crayness during the day.

Sometimes I want to cry because all day he will not stop hitting me in the face, and clawing at my eyes, nose, etc. He broke two pairs of glasses already, and several necklaces.

My son would leave them on as long as I put them on him once he fell asleep. I feel so bad for you. That sounds awful   Have you tried talking to your pedi?

My son is 7 months and he hits a lot, too. He isn't that bad, but every baby is different. He does like to smack people's faces, though. He also pulls on everything he can get ahold of and tries to eat it. The other day he had a handful of his sisters hair. Your LO just sounds like an overly excited baby. lol My son usually only hits when he gets excited.

Yes he is such a hyperactive, excited baby. Always flailing and hiting. I seriously need to talk to his peditrician. He's 7 months though so his next visit isn't until he's 9 months. I have been wondering if he has ADHD, because his father has ADHD, and he is so so so crazy and hyper 24/7.

Is it possible to detect that so early?

Hmm, sounds pretty normal to me! Just move his hands away and nicely say no. Just try to distract him with other things as well. He is a baby and very curious.
