I had a little trouble following this, but DD was like that in the nicu and when she came home. A lot of babies in the NICU did cry and they told me if she didn't start crying we would really have to make sure we got up and fed her on a schedule and such. She started grunting for things.
Then she went through a phase of crying when she was hungry. But that only lasted like 2 months. Now we are back to fussing and grunts. But she gets her point across. We have learned which grunt means which. The Dr also was not concerned. Learn your LO's grunts and enjoy the lack of headaches

Story of my life!! And it made it easier because I know EXACTLY what you are talking about and it is difficult. It was/is really difficult for us because DH is Deaf and the alarm that flashes a light when she is crying isn't sensitive enough for her grunting. So its all on me if we are sleeping. But it gets better and or the babies actually start crying lol

huh? No she can hear, it's her father who is Deaf (not that it would matter if she was hearing or deaf). She does have fluid in her ear but that will get better. The fluid in her ear is what made her fail her hearing test and have to go back for an ABR test. I think partly it was because they assume just because her dad is deaf that she will be as well, which was annoying.

Is he having an ABR test done as well'? It's a very draining test on child and parents and can be a bit scary. They stick electrodes things all over their head

(we were enrolled in SSI when she was in the nicu because she's considered a micropreemie from her weight and the state considers her disabled because of that. But we were denied when she came home because we have 2 cars, which we need for work and appointments.)
