8 months and trying to master sitting.

posted 10th May '12
I had twins they are 8 months but were born early and really only suppose to be just turning 6 months, i was at a fantaisa party the other night with a bunch of other moms and some of the girls were asking me questions about my boys, they all seemed shocked when i said that they are just starting to learn how to sit up and can only sit for about 2-3 mins before falling over. One of the ladies asked me if the have had tests done to see if they are slow, i just figured for delelopmental wise they should be developing at the age that they should be which is 6 months, should i be worried?

No, six months would be their adjusted age since they were born early.

Eh. Haters gonna hate, yaknow? Lots of folks like to think they know better. But trust your instincts. Kids develop differently, and develop different skills first, different skills will come easier to different kids.

Sounds like they're right on track. My daughter was sitting at 6 months, but would absolutely fall down all the time after a minute or two.

babies do things at differnt times. will wasnt sitting overly well till like 7 months, he still isnt even trying to crawl. he will be 10 months soon and he just rolls or army crawls.

Not at all. Mine didn't pull himself up to sit until he was over 6 months, and was only partially good at it for the first few weeks. He was term.

I know a child, born at term, who didn't sit until 9 months.

Babies develop differently, especially preemie babies. There is no comparison to term babies. My friends 5 month adjusted son isn't anywhere near sitting up on his own, so, no, they're not slow, they're just themselves!

All babies are different and go at their own rate. My son was about 6-6 1/2 months when he started to sit for longer periods. By 7 months he was sitting pretty good. So sounds like your babies are doing great, since they were born early and would be 6 months.

My son just turned 8 months last week and started crawling the day after he hit 8 months. I was getting worried when others started earlier than him, but then I remember all babies are different.

No they are fine. My son was born at 38 weeks and learned to sit between 7 and 8 months I think? It's hard for me to remember exactly when because he could do it, but never wanted to because laying and rolling everywhere was easier for him. He didn't start sitting on his own very often until he was close to 11 months.

some babies never crawl they skip that and go straight to walking, thats what my sister did. i wish people would understand that just because their baby sat up 5 months and was crawling by 6 doesnt mean mine are slow just because they are not and i also wish that they would realise that my guys were almost 2 months early

My daughter starting sitting at 6mo and she was born on time. They are probably just trying to make their kids seem better, I know it sounds shallow, but you'd be suprised....

some babies never crawl they just go straight to walking. but thanks it makes me feel better when i hear others stories because it seems all the girls i know have genius babies that were sitting at 4-5 months crawling 6 and one of them is walked and he 9 months only 5 weeks older then my guys and the moms just make me feel like my babies have something wrong with them

I hate when others make it a competition and make those that aren't there yet feel bad. You're babies are doing great!! They're adorable by the way.
