Nursing

My son will be 1 on may 15 and he is still nursing quite often and I really want to stop. He will not take a bottle but he will take a sippy cup with milk, but he still wants the boob! He wakes up first thing in the morning and he gets really really cranky and whiny because he wants to nurse and just doesnt stop until he gets it, of course I give in because im tired and not fully awake lol. My boobs are just starting to get sore and I am just not enjoying it anymore... Any mamas been through this? I would love some tips!

that's great you breastfed for so long! congrats, that's quite an accomplishment by the way.

My son weaned himself off the breast, so as for first-hand advice I don't really have any. you can always try to sweeten the milk in his sippy cup (chocolate milk maybe?) to get him more interested in that. I'm sure chcolate syrup would work the same with breastmilk as it does with cow's milk though.

I rarely, if ever, nursed when I was out and about - I always had some breastmilk with me (i'd warm it up under the faucet in a bathroom) or some formula, depending on where I was going. So when we moved he didn't really want to do it anymore. Change up his morning routine to eliminate the morning nursing maybe? go for a walk or some other activity where he is awake but not begging for it.

Yes, I am looking to stop breastfeeding for good. I did let him get into a bad habit of nursing to fall asleep... so now he will nurse then fall asleep for his nap and bedtime... I have tried putting him in his crib with a sippy cup and he just cries so i grab him and will rock him and try to give him a sippy but he just wants to nurse! He will take a sippy through out the day just not when hes tired and wants to sleep
