Quoting melissaZ:" I am 31 weeks and my dentist refused wrok on me because of methadone, he said it passes through placenta and would be good for baby. Thats all I know about methadone."
Quoting Canyon-Honor-&Colt'sMom:" The girl on the low dosage was on 30 mg (is mg what it comes in?) and about the high dosage with the ... [snip!] ... you and the baby. They should not judge either because at least there is concern for how it will effect surgery and the baby. "
Quoting Katrinagym84:" thanks . The clinic wants to keep uping my dose i feel i am at astable dose so I dont want to go up more than I have to."The best thing to do, no matter what your dose, is to maintain the same dose throughout the pregnancy. Of course, unless, you feel that you need more. I am experiencing my second birth on methadone, and my first child was weaned in three weeks. Remember, if you dont feel you need to up your dose, speak up. With my first child, i allowed them to increase me 50 mg so total i was on 150. my son would have been out of the nicu much sooner, had i maintained my dose. Also, i had a csection the first time, and i am having another c section this time as well. Both breech. Dont let any uneducated people on here say anything negative to you about being on methadone while pregnant. Most people are unaware that its illegal to stop taking methadone while pregnant (if you are on a program) the dangers that come along with the withdrawl can be fatal to your child. Its a very hard thing to go through, one of the toughest experiences i have ever had, but my son is a very healthy, happy 2 year old today.
