"semi" pro-choice here.

Women should have the right to choose but up until which point, I'm still not exactly sure. I think most pro-choicers believe in up until viability, but I am inclined to believe it should stop before then. The age of viability has changed a lot over the years and what was once considered non-viable is now viable. I think there must be a point in which the fetus becomes more sophistically sensate, and this is the point at which I think the child is independent and has the right to life, even if it isn't necessarily viable outside the womb.

they puncture the skull and use a vacuume to take out the brain so the skull can collaps   If you read on in the article from the link above, there were only 35 done in all of canada in a whole year, so its not like we go around doing it all the time. its most common in 1-12 weeks although there are quite a few who do it 13-24 weeks.

They also do d&e or PBA in the U.S.A. for medical reasons.

It's no different.

That is worse than the women who give birth and dump the babies in dumpsters!!

God can you please explain to me how that would be medically necessary to kill it as it crowns?

I'm pro-choice to an extent. Cases of rape, incest, the pregnancy is going to harm the mother, or the child isn't going to have a good quality of life.

I don't -agree- with abortion so late in the pregnancy, but I can see reasons why it might come about. So, before it's bashed, why don't we look at some options as to why late-term abortion might be legit?

How do you know that? Have you ever looked into 3rd trimester abortions in Canada before this? Because I have. Most of them ARE for medical reasons because doctors are generally ethically against elective 3rd trimester abortions.

If you were to get very technical, and into the legalities of it, if this were something done in the US, many states wouldn't consider it murder until it is separated from it's mother. If the umbilical cord is still attached, it's still considered a part of her. Crazy, huh?

There are medical abortions done that late in the US also, but to be approved, it has to go before a medical board.

I definitely don't think that is appropriate at that late in the pregnancy...I think any point past 3 months is inappropriate unless there is amnio done and there are severe malformations..

But on another note, Where did you get your statistic that "most moms on baby-gaga are pro-life and think abortion is murder?" I don't think you can make that judgement really unless you have some cold hard proof...I am pro choice...however I personally would not get an abortion unless I had been raped or something like that.

Ok well lets start giving reasons. I don't see how this could help anyone. If the baby is going to die anyways couldn't you just have it and let nature take its course.

I don't think you quite understand how and intact D&E actually works.

heh

I'm not saying a doctor didn't state that it was "medically necessary"
I am saying the Doctor did not strap the woman down and perform an abortion against her will.
The woman elected to have an abortion.
