weight loss during pregnancy

I'm 17 years old and will be 18 in May and I am 22 weeks pregnant. I went to see my doctor and he says that for my height of 5'1" I am over weight. I weigh 155 right now and I was 140 when I got pregnant. However, I was wondering if anyone knew of any diets that are safe for pregnancy and exercises other than yoga that I could do.

You cant diet when you are pregnant that I know of. You just have to eat healthy.

do not diet while pregnant! just eat healthy. eat lots of fruits and veggies (more veggies bc fruits carry more sugar) and limit ur junk food. you can still work out on a lot of things like walking, the eliptical, the stairs..just be more careful. dont worry about losing weight, just be careful not to gain more than recommended.

There is no safe diet while you are pregnant... you just have to eat right and stay active. I'm very overweight and the doctor told me I cannot do anything about it (I was dieting heavily before the pregnancy) until after the baby was born.

I keep loosing weight as well, I started at 137 and now 25 weeks 137, they say the baby is his right size, so i must be loosing and gaining weight, how do i put on pounds and keep it is my question. You shouldnt diet though.

oh dont worry about keeping on pounds.. it'll happen i promise.. i lost 20 pounds in the first 3 months and didn't start gaining any of it back untill i was 24 weeks.. and now i am almost 28 and have gained back 7 of it.. so don't worry you'll start gaining weight.. and then you'll wish it would stop!

I started out at 136.. [i was out of shape and needed to drop a few pounds] im 160 now and 33 weeks prego. My doctor said im fine and im still under what a lot of people gain. He told me if I was worried about it to just do a lot of walking and cut out the junk foods.

i met a girl today in the mall who dieted. she is 6 months and basically on bed rest. she said dieting and alot of exercising made her lose alot of weight, so she has gained only 5lbs the whole time. not cool, and sad. 

I was 125 before i was pregnant and now i am 144. i am 9 weeks.
its normal to gain weight... but walking is good!

Dont eat less, but eat healthier. Instead of junk food and fast food eat more salads and fruits, dont deprive yourself of food just make better food choices.

Before I got pregnant, I was 113 pounds. Now I'm 17 weeks and weigh 115. I've lost two pounds while pregnant. My doctor says I need to strive for a pound a week, and I'm literally eating as much as I can handle. I don't over exercise either..in fact I barely exercise at all. I need a bit of advice too. I don't want to eat a bunch of junk. I stick to healthy foods the majority of the time, and of course I don't want to gain weight, but I want my baby to be healthy...and the baby IS most important to me. The weight gain is necessary, and it can come off later...but how do I pack on the pounds?
