I don't know much about it.. I do know about CAH. From what I've read the severity of it can vary a lot. All I can do is talk to my doc about it. Hopefully it's nothing but my numbers where over triple what they should be.

They likely ran the wrong test and did a quantitative progesterone, which is normal.

But you would have brittle bones, a beard, and no children. Also you would be a very heavy women, with no breasts.

To even start fertility treatments you were screened for this, and wouldn't of been able to start treatments if you had it.

Wow. That's another thing I hope they check which I'm sure they will. I know my ob/gyn I had checked my thyroid because she was concerned about it being kinda high. So hoping everything is back to normal. The docs did a hormone panel on me in August before my surgery for a cyst and everything came back normal so I don't know what can be up now. I guess it's a waiting game for us. I'm seriously considering starting my metformin tonight though. It won't hurt anything if I do considering I have PCOS.

All I know is what he told me was ran instead. I have never been to a RE and I know the tests my OB ran originally this was not one of them. You very well could be right though. No I don't have a beard and I do have breast and I'm not severely over weight. So who knows??

Did they do your hormonal panel on a certain day of your cycle like day 3? I've heard it's hard to pin point your hormones being off just on a random day of your cycle since your hormones can vary so much during a cycle. Where as if you have a specific day 3 or whatever test they can pinpoint more what your levels should be. I'm not sure that made sense??

No it's not that impossible. I've had two successful pregnancies and I just got diagnosed with it. I don't know if it's age or differences in your body as you age that brings out the symptoms more but I haven't been diagnosed ever until a few months ago and my two children are 13 and 6. I lost my third Dec. 2011. It wasn't until my miscarriage that my symptoms started being noticable.

No you made sense. They did it right around the time AF was supposed to start. Which for me was 7 days after ovulation. Which on a normal cycle CD21. They said all my hormones were fine. But your hormones can be normal and you still have PCOS which I don't understand how since PCOS is noticable by absent or abnormal periods, little to no ovulation, hair growth in certain areas, uncontrolable weight gain and trouble losing, and heavy periods with pain. Me on the other hand have periods every month with ovulation most of the time, some facial hair but not enough to talk about, am overweight but maintain a steady weight (recently lost 4lbs), and normal period flow with no pain. So I don't know how they figure i have it but they said I do. I'm going see the fertility specialist on the 27th. I'm sure she will tell me for sure.

Yes I just officially got dignosed with it. Since my surgery in August they played around with the possibly that I had it. One doctor said I had it another doctor said I didn't. So that was up in the air. Now I went back to my gyn last week and they did an u/s because the ER claimed I had a cyst on my left ovary. Well turned out there was no cyst and that is when the doctor said I had follicles on my ovaries which is normal for someone with PCOS. So either I didn't understand the doc and they said I had it back in August or they have finally said I do. Either way that is what they said. When I go see the fertility specialist I'm going to see if she thinks the same thing.

I think she was referring to the NCAH which I don't know much about.

yeah, I think she was referring to Non Classical Adrenal Hyperplasia. I don't really know anything about it, but I think she was saying being diagnosed with it would be rare after having children.

There are varying degrees of severity. I actually read an article that suggested 10% of women with PCOS actually have it instead. Whatever it may be it was interesting to learn about it.
