Well... I may HAVE to go there, but I was trying to avoid it. I did Follistim injections with my son and developed severe OHSS. I was in ICU and have to have a thoracentesis (where they removed almost 2 liters of fluid off my right lung) which resulted in a pneumothorax. Each of my ovaries measured over 16cm and they were very fearful of torsion or rupture. Needless to say, we're all a little skittish. Of course, if that's what it comes to, injections it is. We'll probably try a combination cycle first this go around which will lessen my OHSS chances.

Good grief. Were you doing IVF or did you overstim on an IUI cycle?

IUI. My OHSS was worsened because we conceived DS during that cycle.

Had monitoring this morning, folliciles are measuring 14.5   Big jump from Friday! Getting so close - RE is estimating Friday or Saturday for retrieval! Starting to get a little freaked out about OHSS   I've been feeling crappy the past few days, my nurse told me to keep the fluids going and eat a lot of protein - been chugging water and diet gatorade all day, hoping it's just my body adjusting to all of the hormones and changes.

Lol no worries! To be honest, I went into this knowing it was a possibility and it helps me to hear people's experiences. My RE isn't concerned yet, said that OHSS doesn't typically set in until after ER. So for now I'm hoping it's just side effects that will get better. I need to stay away from Google though lol making myself crazy!

Your son is adorable, btw! How old is he? What a cutie

Yeah, fortunately enough for me I was naive to the whole situation until it had already resolved. I had no idea my condition was as serious as it was, which I'm sure was a good thing. That was long before I was a nurse and to be honest, hadn't done much fertility drug research at the time either. Mine didn't set in until after my IUI ( I was only mildly bloated before) and only got severe about a week to 10 days later because I had conceived. Eh, it sucked and was pretty scary but I'd do it all again! (Heck, may have to, lol)

And, thanks! He is hilarious too! Makes me laugh daily! He turned 6 on Halloween.

Hi everyone, I have a question. I am currently 7 days post IUI (my first). I found out yesterday that my progesterone level is good, so I don't need any medication for that. My question is that I have been going through some slight cramping and just a plain uncomfortable feeling. I had pinching in my sides a few days ago, but those have stopped. Is this normal to feel this way after an IUI?

I had cramping like the day of and maybe the day after but that's it.

Did you do any stim meds with your IUI?

No. I was only supposed to be given the trigger shot, but my bloodwork indicated that I would be ovulating on my own. So the IUI was done the next day. Other than that, the only medication I have taken was Provera to bring along AF and Clomid during the first few days of the cycle.

It sounds scary, you've given me the motivation to stay on top of the situation if it doesn't get better. My nurses will prob think I'm nuts but I'd rather be safe than sorry. As you said I'm sure it's all worth it in the end though.

Aww, so cute! He must be so much fun

IDK, but for me (not sure about anyone else) every time I take any kind of ovulation induction drug they make my ovaries feel weird and twitchy up until AF.

So... got my glucose and insulin levels back. Normal. I'm not even sure, someone enlighten me... Can you be PCOS and have no other PCOS "stuff"? My ovaries clearly show the indicative "pearl necklace" and you can see the numerous follicles easily. I just don't know... **sigh** Either way, waiting to start surge testing tomorrow night.

My doc never did an insulin test for me. I asked for metfomin and it has mildly regulated my periods. I am not over weight and I don't really have "dude hair" as my doc calls it lol. But I had a bilateral string of pearls on my first U/S and on the left in my second 2 months ago. So I guess my symptoms are irregular periods and the ultrasound results. All my hormones were in normal range. Good luck I am on cd 16 I think? still no pos OPK and I don't think I will for a little while. I don't hardly have any CM. I will be starting femera next month good luck!!!
