I honestly don't know about IUI rates. I don't think the chance of success would be any greater than than just a regular cycle for couples with no issues.

I'm healthy. We're using a donor sperm with about a 20 million count.

Everything I read says 5-18% success (but they always preface with it "many couples who turn to IUI are going to have lower success rates.")

I've heard it's the same rate as a couple TTC the regular way, as in a 25% chance

25%... *sigh* I guess we can only do what we can do...

I just know if AF comes in about 3 weeks I'm going to cry my eyes out. I know there's more cycles we can try... but yuck.

My head hurts from how confused I am right now...

I think we are switching our donor, which sucks because I hate looking over all the information to find something I don't like or a reason why we can't use him, then I'm back to searching.

The reason why I think we are switching is because the donor we have is CMV positive, and it says this on the website:

CMV is a virus that most American adults have been exposed to and have immunity to. In healthy adults and children it produces mild cold or flu like symptoms for 1-2 weeks. If a woman who has never had CMV becomes infected with the virus during pregnancy, the child is at risk for developing severe medical problems, such as mental retardation, deafness and seizures. You can be tested to determine if you have been exposed to CMV. If you are CMV negative, you should consider restricting your selections to CMV negative donors, to prevent the small chance of developing CMV during pregnancy and passing it the developing child. Information on the CMV status of all donors is available on their summary profile.

ETA: Am I being paranoid or is this a good idea we switch?

Have you been tested for CMV? I think it would make me a little paranoid too.

How was the trip?!

I had a phone consult with the TAC surgeon in NJ yesterday. He took my history and said he believes the surgery is medically necessary for me and that success with a regular cerclage is not likely. Although it means major surgery x2, it was a relief to have him confirm to me that I do need it and now we just move forward with it.

So the decision is made. They're working on my insurance and I should hear something back from them next week. I'm still pretty worried about that BUT I finally got Scott on the same page with me that we would pay out of pocket if it isn't covered. Such a relief to know it WILL happen.

Yeah I'd want to be tested. Hopefully it's not a big deal.
