I'm going CRAZY trying to find the perfect car seat!!!!

posted 29th Apr
I'm so frustrated! I work at the hospital in postpartum and see 20 car seats a day, yet I can't find the perfect one!! I thought I had, but it turns out it only comes with a stroller (which I don't need, I'm the youngest in my family so I get all the hand me downs from my brothers and sisters and don't need a stroller), AND it doesn't fit in shopping carts. I am super picky about my car seat and need advice. I don't know which consumer reports to trust because one day you hear its the top rated and the next you hear its recalled. I just want to hear what you've heard about the safest AND most convenient car seats out there. THANKS!

Graco. I've heard nothing negative about them. Also, get a brand new one. Do NOT get a hand me down car seat.

I have a Chicco Cortina travel systerm. Its awesome! The seat is really cushy. We have a graco one as well but it's not as padded as the chicco.

if you are looking for an infant seat I would look for one that can adjust from the front just by pulling the strap, I have one of the 'older styles' (and I am sure they still do it) where you have to adjust them one at a time from the back, and it is a PAIN IN THE ASS!!! I have a graco (not snugride) that i used for my first two, and am using for this one as well, and I love it, besides the straps of course.

ALso the Britax diplomat. It's supposed to be the best protection side impact. I haven't used ours yet. Were using the chicco carrier for awhile. But when we do, it'll fit perfectly into our car. The diplomat is made for smaller cars.
But also about the Chicco carseat... it's very easy to use. Straps, base installment andhow it goes into the stroller.

Mine would not fit in my '02 Ford Mustang. Well it would, I guess, if no one sat in the front seat. I had a really card time finding one that would fit. In the end we got a new car. LOL

Also stay away from evenflo and make sure the seat has a front harness adjust and an adjustable base.

I was talking about a shopping cart. My friend uses the Safeseat and her carseat don't fit in the carts. We have the Graco with EPS foam and it fits fine so I don't know probably because the other seat is alittle bigger. I personally didnt want the safeseat because it just seemed like I would wreck my back more then it already is carrying that and my son around in it longer. My first son was out of his infant seat at 6 months and if I would have carryed him in it any longer I would have killed my back.
