Fetal sex ultrasound at 15 weeks too early?

posted 29th Apr '08
We have our ultrasound to find out if we are having a boy or a girl this Thursday an I'll only be 15 weeks. Is this too early? Anyone had an ultrasound this early and had it still be right? Or turn out wrong? Let me know your experiences!

Did they SAY it was that particular ultrasound? All of my pregnancies we didn't go until 19-20 weeks. Why are they doing it so early? While it's possible for them to POSSIBLY see the sex, it's not likely they will. And if they do, it's accuracy is more questionable than it would be at 20 weeks.

Could "possibly" but its unlikely. The best time is around 18 to 20 weeks. With my youngest they couldnt even tell me at 18 weeks even though they tried. I had to come back in 2 weeks later to have them look again.

20+ weeks. This time around they told me girl around 19-20 weeks and three weeks later the little girl I was so happy about grew a penis  Its been confirmed twice now, we're having boy #4...
I wouldn't start buying clothes yet, just to be on the safe side, then again, there's a 50/50 chance right?!

My husband and I found out that we were having a little boy at only 12 weeks. Let's just say he isn't shy and since then we have actually had 5 more ultrasounds including the 4d and he's definitely a boy so I guess it just depends on the baby and ultrasound tech!!

I found out a little over 16 weeks. If it's a boy, and not shy, you'll definitely see it... Good luck.

i didnt have mine til 20 weeks (he was obviously a proud boy)

but my cousin had an ultrasound at 14.5 weeks and the dr said it was a boy, she had another at 19weeks and it was a girl. (and she ran out of the room crying, she really wanted a boy )

At 12 weeks they all look like boys...or so I've seen on some ultrasound sites. We all start off looking like we have little penis' just with the girls they become the cliterus while with boys it keeps growing.

I have an ultrasound at 15 weeks scheduled but they didn't tell me it's for sex, they said it's to confirm dates. My doctor said there is a chance that they will be able to determine the sex if the baby cooperates!
