re: Do you think it is right to ban religion on a website?

Where did I say you couldn't vent?

If you don't like it that badly, then leave instead of just complaining.

DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

If you don't do something about it, you don't have any room to complain.

I will not be renewing after this current membership expires, but I am already passed the allowed time to get a refund so I am pretty much out of my money.

I do get where you are coming from, just because I don't personally have an issue with someone being relgious or believing in something doesn't mean others don't. I totally get that. Honestly though I lurk all over that site and have never seen any issues about religion being mentioned. The only issues I have seen amongst those women is issues with certain parenting skills, and certain beliefs about how to deal with their children, pregnancy, etc. Other than that I personally haven't seen any issues with religion being spoken.

I already have done something about it, the group of women that I speak with regularly on that site have all sent letters expressing our feelings on this new rule, and the fact that we can't even share our babies blogs with others. So yes, I am doing something about it, but I am also allowed to vent elsewhere if that is what I feel the need to do.

Again, I didn't tell you that you couldn't vent.

It is what our world is turning into. We are losing rights at every corner. Dont do this, dont do that. Seriously, we are. In a damn forum, someone cant say "Ill pray for you". Wow, whats next?

I understand that as well. Am I expecting this website to change their rules because a good portion of the website isn't happy about a new rule, no that is not what I am saying. I am simply stating that I personally am shocked that a website that does seem to be booming with customers would make such an extreme rule that I am sure they had to know would offend quite a number of their customers.

I agree with you, I don't see it as good business, and wouldn't be surprised if half or even more of their customers suspends their own accounts.

Yup, tell me about it. Granted I very rarely say anything along the lines of religion to anyone, but still I don't see the issue if someone has a blinkie in their siggie that says "god please bless my bean" or "my babies rest in heaven"

That's the best way to get a business to change their mind.

If users send letters, they probably will ignore it, because it doesn't threaten the bottom line.

But, if everyone cancels their memberships, you'll see them change their policies quicker than you can say boo.

Yes, you paid for it, and they can change their terms. But if they change their terms, then you should be able to change your terms and get your money back. Or at least walk away and cause them to lose recurring revenue (after harassing them as much as humanly possible for that refund, but the same type of people that like to take rights away also like to take money away)knowing their business won't last with such restrictions.

If my cable modem provider all of a sudden changed their TOS to ban viewing of non-US-based sites, or started donating 10% of my monthly cable bill to the KKK,you bet I'd be calling them to cancel right now plus get a nice big fat refund for the amount of time I was unable to access their service without violating their terms. And I wouldn't be the only one. They'd b&m about the refund part for awhile, but chances are I'd get it out of them sooner or later.

That's the activisty side of me.

The passive-aggressive snarky side of me says, "it's just the internet" and "have fun with it until you get banned or your membership runs out."

Time to start new in-jokes. Instead of saying you're praying for someone, tell them you'll eat a taco for them. Instead of "God Bless" say "Gesundheit that beautiful baby" ... the mods will probably catch on and give the shifty-eyed smily, but it sounds like that Stalinesque community is on its way down anyway.
