IEP today

My 4yo DD was recently diagnosed with HF ASD and today she has an IEP with her school district, so my DH and I can meet her teachers and therapists and talk about a game plan for her. Anyone been through this before? And know what to expect? I'm so nervous!

I had 2 last week. One because they did one final test for me to see if my son was on the spectrum and they wanted to give me the results and another for next year. He has a speech IEP now. It went really well. At first they wanted to cut his speech from twice a week to once but I wasn't happy with that and they didn't mind giving him twice a week again.

I used to teach special education, so I've been through it before but on the other end. Don't be nervous though. They are just going to go through what they've found and where they think your daughter should be. The team (including you) will come up with some acheivable goals that they think your daughter should have. Just remember that everyone there wants to help her, so don't be nervous, intimidated, or scared to speak up. Also, if you don't agree with something, speak up. Keep in mind though that sometimes, teachers or therapists see different things than you might. In the end though, you're her mother.

hi my daughter has an IEP its nothing 2 worry about its just 2 say what they can do 2 help her in school and what stages they are working towards there good with me and my daughter i get 2 find out what there working on in nursery so i can contiue at home
