Double ear infection with a ruptured ear drum

I feel horrible. LO never mentioned ANYTHING about his ear hurting him until last night when he spent the night with my MIL. She dropped him off this morning and said that he had been complaining that his ear was hurting him all night. I asked him if it hurt and he said "No", and wasn't acting like it did at all. I took him to the doctor anyway, and found out that he has a double ear infection and his ear drum ruptured! I feel so awful... I could have gotten him antibiotics and prevented this! But how was I supposed to know if he never mentioned it to me?! Poor bug. Anyone else's LO ever ruptured an ear drum?? What should we do for it?

My sons ear drum was partially ruptured. He had a blocked tear duct that caused him MAJOR ear infections for a few months before he got surgery to remove the blockage. There is nothing you can do. Hopefully it will heal (atleast a lil bit) over time. My son still has some trouble hearing out of that ear tho.
