sterilize bottles?
posted 3rd May '12
so I'm trying to sterilize all my bottles. I got them from a family friend who had already sterilized them but IDK how. I've been told to boil them for a little while, how long? will it melt the plastic bottles? they're dr browns bottles. Can i boil the nipples and little thing that goes inside them?
There's so much I don't know about babies!! Help please?
Thanks Ladies!

boil up the water for 5 mins til its gets hot and to sterilize the bottles for 5 to 10 mins.it helps kill the bacteria ( but rewash them again before sterilizing them)

do you have a dishwasher? put them on the top rack, it does the same thing.
however, if you dont, boil them for 15 minutes. yes, all the pieces can go into the water

mine is a steamer i put about 10ml of water in the bottom and then put the teats caps and bottles in together switch it on and it steams up .stops when waters gone.
differnt ways of doing it my mother still prefers to sterilise using the little tablets and hot water.idk .think you just gotta get em hot to kill all bacteria and ya little tongs so ya dont have to touch the bottles .

I always sterilized my breast pump parts and bottles in the same pot I sterilize jars for canning. Clean in hot soapy water and immidiately boil.. Get water to almost rolling boil, add all parts except really soft pieces like valves and boil for 7 minutes and air dry on a clean rack.
