re: Drug commercials

Personally, I was strung out on meth for years. By the grace of God, I pulled away and through that whole mess. I was like that even as a teenager. Always rolling or hitting acid or banging coke. I never smoked pot. But most people so. Alot of people accociate getting 'high' with any number of drugs, and their own nieve way of thinking truely believe that everyone who does heroin or smack started on pot. They overexagerate the facts because alot of the older generation truely thinks that pot is the devil and does what all these other drugs do. Do I agree with them putting this on TV? Yes. Because if that stupid commercial scares one kid out of doing drugs, or makes one kid at a party think twice about doing drugs, then it's totally worth it. I don't want my kids doing them, not even pot. And I think parents need all the reinforements we can get...

Ahhh I see what are you are saying! Well, I have never seen commericals targeted at kids, always teenagers, so I guess the real issue then is those companies making commericals for kids.

I personally think there is nothing wrong with weed... it's safer I think than any other drug... in fact I think it's safer than alcohol... jmo

the more retarded the commerical.. the more likely a 9 year old will pay attention to it

Recreationally, as an adult.. neither do i.. but as a teen and young adult whos focuses should be on school.. I have big problem with drinking and drugs

Well I didn't read all the posts but while I do agree that they don't portray average pot users correctly, pot somewhat is a "gateway" drug or whatever you'd like to call it. Pot doesn't seem severe so kids start on that and eventually you figure what the hell, and try something else. So maybe they are just trying to stop it at the source (which may or may not be effective, I think if you wanna do a drug a commercial won't really sway you..)

however I do see meth commercials too, maybe they don't show them everywhere but they are pretty f*cking disturbing. I have a friend who is now addicted to meth and heroin and I have to say those commercials are pretty accurate about the physical changes...

She says if anything they make her want to try it to see what all the fuss is about. I told her to wait till she is older to try weed. Bash me all you want but if she is going to do it i want her to be grown first.

So no. I don't like them.

I guess I just feel that hard drugs are a much bigger problem! Weed is something alot of people will at least try in their lifetime although it is bad, compared to other drugs it's pretty safe. I guess pot is just part of the "teenage experimentation" It when kids get into meth and coke and whatever else that really horrible things start to happen. Weed commericals can be effective, but there needs to be more commericals and education about the harder drugs too! I have only seen one meth commercial in my life and I just don't feel that is enough!

I like this one because unlike the sleepy lazy melty pot ads...this one scares the SHIT out of my kids.

I think the worst time for kids to be doing drugs is 16/17 because that's when post-secondary education and all that come into play. If I had to do the drug phase I'm glad I did when I was 15 and got it all out of my system. Now I have no desire to them again. Not saying that 15 year olds should do the drug phase then though haha
