Because it's the truth, you can babysit and help raise a child but in the end the kid goes back home. Until you become a parent yourself you have no idea what it's like.

Sorry but it will never stop. I have a 4 year old, this is my 4th pregnancy (2nd baby) and people still feel the need to give unwanted advice. Like my sister yelled at me for dying my hair while pregnant. I waited until 18 weeks, well into my second trimester. But like I said you will always have someone who thinks they know more than you. Just ignore it.

Because 9 times out of 10 your plans never go as expected. Sure you can have them and make goals, have dreams but circumstances could have you doing things completely off course than what you expected. Often times parents dont like taking advice from someone who doesnt even have children yet, watching your niece/nephew doesnt really count until you're actually there.

Because you really have no idea how parenting works until you have a child.
I had the same ideas as you. Spotless house, well behaved child, breast feed until a year, organic home made baby food, natural labor and vaginal delivery and not a damn thing worked out.
I wish you the best of luck, but don't plan. It never works the way you want it to.

She isn't totally wrong

Parenting is way harder than people think it is. And you might have "plans" now, but be prepared for that to go out the window.

Not saying that all your plans will fail, but you can't expect perfection

For ME being a parent is hard. As long as no one is blabbing about how easy it will be and how much better their kids will be than mine, I keep my mouth shut. You have to understand how silly it can sound when someone with no kids is telling you how it's going to be for them.

I don't think babysitting is anything like being a parent. Parenting is hard and you're very naive to think it isn't going to be tough.

Some of your plans will stick, some wont. It all depends on your child.

watching a baby or babysitting even for hours or a day at a time really doesnt compare to having a child 24/7.

Sorry to say this but...

I believe until you have a child ((either birthed or with you 24/7 7 days a week)) you have no idea what parenting is.

Just shrug it off and ignore her if it pissing you off so bad.

Nobody is perfect, remember that.

Also, just wanted to add

that for the first year or so, the hard time outweigh the good. I mean, the good stuff is AWESOME, but there are way more frustrating and upsetting moments than there are awesome ones

Parenting is hard. Ive done all of those things. Parenting is all of those same things and more, it's just deeper.

It's. Really awful of you to say she claims she watches her child and just lets video games raise him. Way more mean than her telling you parenting is harder than you think it is.

I think you just contradicted yourself. If somehing is stressful then its not easy. Otherwise you wouldn't be stressed.

If you're stressed about an exam you know it's hard.

I tidy my house and my kids make a mess. I vacuum and my toddler will throw her food on the floor. I clean and my 5 year old will spill somehing.
I don't think I spoil my son but he's 5 and can be a brat at times.
