carseat law change???

My good friend told me that there was a law passed that children now have to be RF till the age of 2 and in a booster till the age of 8. Unless they turned 1 year before 4-25-12. no height or weight requirement just age. I don't' know if this is true, anyone have a link? I still find it's 8 and 4 foot 9. Doesn't apply to me, we are ERF and my daughter is 11 months. But I want to be right when I argue with people. lol

Recommendation.

There are a few states that have changed the law to that, but also have weight requirement too not just age. I know a few more states are trying to change the law as well.

Good lord I hope not! LoL! My son is 3 feet tall and just turned two... I can't imagine having him rear facing right now. His legs would be at his chin poor LiL guy!

Recommendation. Not law.

As far as I know, though, being in a booster til 8 is a law.

it's easily possible to do it comfortably.

it's law here, but not exsacly how you tell it, rear faceing seats go up to a certin weight (whatever it is it should be on the car seat) then a front faceing car seat untell like 20 lbs (or something like that again weight limit should be on the car seat) and then a booster seat untell they are 8 or over a certin weight or hight

well yes you have to take into account the limits of the seat.
Brings up a lot of questions about this "law".
I'm not finding that it has been made a law....yet.

California Law (Effective 01/01/2012):


Children under the age of 8 must be secured in a car seat or booster seat in the back seat.

Children under the age of 8 who are 4' 9" or taller may be secured by a safety belt in the back seat.

I'm not in the states the only one here I know for sure is a law is the booster seat one the rest I think are car seat limits not actule law

that is all I could find as well. Oh well I guess she was miss informed. dang. lol

age 8 or 4'9 for a booster, as far as i know its still 1 and 20 for rear facing, but 2 is the recommendation

Every state is different it is just a Recommendation for me here in CO
