Bare Necessities

posted 28th Apr
What is the one single most useful item that you could NOT live without when you came home from the hospital? Obviously not the car seat as you have to have this, but what else????? We are done with baby showers and trying to narrow down what we still HAVE to buy....

I loved my boppy....oh and if you are a tea or coffee drinker, then one of those little hotplate things that you plug in really saves that cup of perfect coffee that you forgot about when you had to feed/change the baby

A little step stool. our bed is really tall and i'm really shrt so it helped me to get into bed. now we use it as a seat next to the tub for bath time. it helps our backs and knees.

That coffee warmer is a great idea. I am deinately getting one of them. Thanks for the great tip. Saves running to microwave 3 times and then taking a sip and saying blah and throwing out the entire cup

the bouncer. she is almost a month old and i have her sleep in it, instead of the cradle. i can see her from laying down and shes really comfortable.

plus the boppy, i love it. if i need to hold her paci in her mouth when i'm trying to sleep or something i sit the boppy on the bed next to me up near my head and lay her in the middle. but to make sure she doesn't slip down in the center because she's so little i wrap her up baby burrito style & also lay a thicker baby blanket over the boppy then lay her ontop of that. it's safe i couldn't possibly roll over on her but i wouldn't do it w/ 2 ppl in the bed.

safe at least for this age, she doesn't roll over or anything yet.

Plenty of receiving blankets and a boppy pillow.

pack n play!!! When we were downstairs and she was a newborn it was greatfor having the 'changing station', it had a place where I could put some extra clothes, and she would sleep in the bassinet part when she was sleepy. . .perfect for not having to go to the nursery every time you need something. The SWING, for when she was about a month and up. It was the only thing that would give me some hands-free time. And Dermoplast. . .I think that's what it's called numbing spray for after labor- ask for extras when you leave the hospital!

LOL coffee/tea drinkers UNITE!!! lol

Also, one thing that I had before and hope to find here in Egypt is a glider, it helped to calm me and my son, and if you do get one, then swing for the extra foot stool, also wonderful!!!!

lol I didn't even think of baby swings and a bouncy seat, I think of those as those types of things that if you don't have it you're crazy!!!! lol like no explanation nessecary!

Haha, I thought about that, too.

For myself, I loved my boppy pillow, not for breastfeeding, but to sit on. Perfect for my stitches and hemorrhoids.

For my baby, the long sleeved, zip upsleep sacks were awesome. I didn't have to wrestle with her legs, or deal with snaps.A must havefor the sleep deprived mom. I can't tell you how many times I snapped her up, only to find that I'd skipped one, making me redo the whole thing! Even better are gowns, no zippers. But I hadn't gotten any until after that first month, definitely getting some next time.
