Dread dilemma

posted 24th Apr '12
I'm having some major issues with them and it's driving me nuts. They are just about 16 months old now. And still frizzy as hell. I'm realizing that the sectioning is BAD as I'm trying to fix them. It's getting to the point where I don't like them all the time now.

I keep thinking about combing them out and starting over after a bit. But then I see them in the mirror and I love them.

AH!

What should I do?

I don't have recent pictures, but here they are.

Right after I dyed my hair.
At the top is a smurf ton of loose hair. And the bottom has a lot too. It's just everywhere.

And this was the sectioning.

As you can see there some are really small. Some are really big. And the triangle sectioning is good. But she made them really big at the bottom. Like...the bottom is really long so they eat each other a lot.   And now it's damn near impossible to tell which dread the loose hair goes too.

I think you should comb out and try again if you really want dreads.

I would start over, if you can comb them out..... youve super learned all sorts of stuff about dreads in general, as well as dreading YOUR hair.

I would start over so they will be perfect

That's a tough one. The sectioning thing is only going to get worse, right? I'd probably start over.

How would you comb them out though? I thought once you had dreads you had to cut your hair.

It's totally possible to comb them out. It just takes a long time and conditioner. lol. It's just a ton of knots. On another forum a girl who had them for 8 years combed her's out.

Dont give up. Mine looked like that for quite a while, but thats what makes them so unique. The stray hairs never really bothered me, but I let mine go naturally. I say keep them!

I really don't want to give up, but OMG. It's driving me nuts. lol. I like the messy look, but not this messy. I just wish I knew someone who could get in there and fix the roots. That's my issue.
