Preemie Babes; Then and Now - Results

Post up to 5 photos of your Preemie baby, when they were born and them now.
**Must be a preemie you gave birth to, meaning YOUR child, however feel free to share stories of loved ones if you wish to partake in the conversation.
**Must be a baby born BEFORE 37 weeks gestation.

Please include Name and Age and any details you would like to share, birth weight, how many weeks/months early, a little back round story, etc.

Morgan Ana Terese (AKA Maggie) was born at 34 weeks. I was in labor with her for a week before I had a seizure and she was born via my second emergency csection at just 4lbs 11 oz. Although I recieved the steriod shots her lungs were not mature and she was life flighted to another hospital two hours away. They wanted to intubate her before her helicopter ride but she was so damn fiesty that she refused. Luckily she didn't need it. Her fiesty spirit has continued to this day and she is very strong willed and has always known EXACTLY what she wants. I lived in the Ronald McDonald house until she was two and a half weeks old, hardly ever leaving the hospital except to pump and sleep. After bringing her home I managed to exclusively breastfeed her for six months.

She will be two in just a few weeks on May 5th!

My brother Adam born 18 weeks early weighing only 1pound and 7 oz on Jan. 10, 1997


this is at 3 months old weighing 2pounds and 15 1/2 oz


and this is now at 15 years old completely healthy with no medical issues

My camera is broken so I think the newest pic that I have of Lila is like 6 months old. She is about to turn 1. Is that ok?

Yes, there's no age restrictions, with the exception of the "now" photos being at least to their term. For instance, if the baby was born at 34 weeks and they are now at what would be their 40th week. Make sense?

that is ok it said a preemie so i thought it would be ok i will keep it up though i like to share his story as often as i can

This is Lila. She was born at 34 weeks and had no surfactant in her lungs. She was born at 7lbs 3oz but because she was so full of fluid she was down to 5lbs even a few days later. The doctors said she probably would have been about 5 1/2 at birth with out the problems. She also had really bad pneumonia. She's very touchy so she was constantly freaking out when she heard the talking or the sounds on the monitors so they had to sedate her.   But she kept fighting the sedation so they had to put her on her tummy so she could finally get some rest and work on breathing.
She was only there for two weeks but it was the worst 2 weeks of my life. I ended up with sever PPD and have been fighting depression from it since.

She is now about to turn 1 on the 5th of May and I can't believe how far she has come. She still has some breathing problems and is still very touchy (doesn't like to be restrained or held very much) but is otherwise very healthy! She is my little princess and amaises me ever day!



It is still hard for me to look at these photos to this day. I can't believe how strong she is!

My preemie Anya.
Anya was born at 27+3 weeks gestation, on May 14, 2009, after I contracted an infection called chorio-amnioitis, which breaks your water, and you must deliver, because it can quickly turn deadly for both mother and baby. After less than 12 hours in labor, my little princess was born at 2lbs 6oz and 14 inches long, she tried to cry coming out, which they said was a good sign, but then they whisked her away to be stabilized to be put in the NICU.
I am going to cry typing out this next part, I was in a lot of pain after giving birth, so they gave me morphine which knocked me out for 10 hours, and when I woke up, I ran right to the NICU, went up to the nurses station, told them who I was, and they pointed at her bedspace. The very first time I laid eyes on my daughter in the NICU were devastating to me. She was so tiny, so frail, I broke down crying immediately, collapsed right into a chair, that I thank was there. One of the nurses walked right up to me, put her hand out, and I put my hand into hers, she stood me up and hugged me, for 10 minutes and I just cried and cried, but it helped me so much.
Okay now that I probably have everyone crying now, including me, lol, that little girl is now going to be 3 in May, and perfectly healthy and perfectly bratty, but wouldn't have it any other way, and a big big big time daddys girl.
