Marriage... JP now & wedding later?
posted 27th Apr
Ok.. this is not my first marriage, nor is it my fiance's. But we've been planning on having a church wedding. However, my fiance wants to be married before the baby gets here... that should be in less than 12 weeks! We haven't even started planning a wedding... and financially, we're not at place to spend a whole heck of a lot of money on one. We're remodeling our home and adding another room on so that we'll have plenty of room for three kids! First of all, is it tacky to have a wedding when its not your first? And would it be really dumb to get married by the JP for now, and have the church wedding this fall? We're not getting married because of the baby, but he has sped up the engagement =)

Okey dokey... We haven't really talked about the JP yet, but I was set against it at first, but now....
Oh... and your little girl is due the day after my birthday! =)

awesome. well the JP is cheaper so you can have more money to spend on the baby and other bills. with only one of us working thats how we have to do it

You should do something small now.. and then the big wedding later when thinks settle down.

me and my mom planned a big(ish) church wedding in one month. I wouldt recommend that though... especially while pregnant.... nobody needs that kind of stress! we spent about $2,000 and we even paid for my bridesmaids dresses and the groomsmens tux rentals ^_^ (b/c other wise they would have been wearing blue jeans... none of them have money)
If you want to get married by a JP then have a bigger wedding, I say go for it! good luck!

We did both, kinda. It was just all in 1 day. We didn't have an ordanedminister till the last minute, and by the time we already had the certificate for the wrong county. So we went to the court house that morning, and followed suite the rest of the day. There is nothing wrong with doing that now and celebrating later. That was our 2nd choice.
