But we're talking about your erroneous statement that men in Ontario are getting circumcised as teens and adults in record numbers. This simply is not true.

We made our decision as a couple for our son. My husband is circumcised, his father and grandfather as well. All his cousins uncles etc.

He wanted to have it done to make his parents happy. They were very loud ans clear about demanding to have Jason circumcised.

I spoke with my family doctor. He said it was not necessary and esthetic. Boys will get an infection if they are dirty and do not wash properly. Not because they are not circumcised. The main risk that there could be a problem without circumcision later in life is if the skin shrinks and becomes painful, cuts off circulation and prevents proper urination. If it was something that family members went through we should consider it. Don't know since they were all circumcised. He also said that it is often family tradition or religious beliefs and that he could respect that. To see the pros and cons and if we decided yes he would make it available to us.

Then I spoke to one nurse who was completely against it called it abuse was way out there and 100% against.

Then to another nurse who said that he would get infected and be shy about sexuality when older because an uncircumcised penis is not attractive etc. She was all for it.

We spoke and decided that this is our son. To tell the grand parents to back off and make our decision after research.

We decided not to have him circumcised and that if as a teen he felt embarrassed about foreskin (which sounds dumb to me) we would support his decision in having it removed. If there was a medical emergency requirering that he have it removed, we would handle it then.

It really is a personal choice and you should weight your values, pro and cons and decide as a parent. Not let others do it for you. My sister did it for her 2 boys and she is very happy she did. I didn't and I'm happy I didn't. And there is nothing wrong with either decisions IMO.
