Playtex drop in bottles

posted 26th Apr
I just switched over from Dr.Brown bottles to the Playtex drop in bottles and was wondering how the heck do you get rid of all the air in the bag? Are you suppose to use your fingers and press on the bottom of the bag to squeeze out the air? Because when I did that, the air just comes back in again when its in an upright postion. I read somewhere you're suppose to "burp" the bottle? How do you burp a bottle? ...ANY advice would be great! Thankkkkss

Yeah you just push the air up from the bottom and keep your hand there until the nipple meets your babies mouth

That's what I do, I push the air up with my fingers from the bottom and keep my finger over the nipple hole (or put the bottle cap back on) until I give it to Jake so the air doesn't come back in.

Totally off topic..sorry...but I was wondering why you were switching from Dr.Browns? Because I've been looking at all sorts of bottles that I was going to use for my son and was planning on buying the Dr.Browns ones and was wondering if they are a good bottle or help reduce gas at all or if there just a waste of money? Any feedback would be great.

Dr. Brown's bottles are great yes, but I'm going to take a guess and say the OP is probably switching because of the BPA scare. Dr. Brown's bottles contain BPA and the Playtex Drop-Ins do not. Please correct me if I'm wrong OP.

i never squeeze the air out of the playtex drop ins bottles. i didnt know you had to... my daughter is okay with that (she's almost 2 months), she never has gas, she burps well, and hardly ever spits up. I dont think you NEED to squeeze the air out.

Hmmmm...that makes sense. I used the playtex advance and avent bottles with my daughter and I'm switching for those exact reasons. I was planning on using the glass Dr.Brown's bottles to avoid all that. But then again glass bottles might not be the best bet....I think I might go and get some drop-ins now, lol. Oh...has anyone used glass bottles before? Did you like them?

I have never used glass bottles, but here's my opinion on them. I wouldn't mind having used them when Lucas was an ittle bittle little thing, but now that he is bigger and prefers to hold his own bottle I would NEVER use one because I wouldn't want him to drop or throw it and have it shatter everywhere.

One lady at my Mommy group microwaves the water in the glass bottle, then pours it into a Avent bottle.

I personally wouldn't use glass. I would be scared of breaking it.
