Malia Feed's

posted 26th Apr
Okay today I went over to the hospital to see my Angel. An the Nurse ask me if I had brought some more of my milk.(I was just at the hopsital the day before an I brought 10 bottles I thought that I was doing good with pumping). She told me that she has to unfrezze 3 of my bottles to feed Malia throught the night.I have tryed everything that I can think of to produce more milk but it's just not there.I even had my doctor prscribe me some Reglan an thats not helping so I am going to stop pumping all together an let them put her on Formula  .An everybody is making me feel so bad because they say I still need to pump. But what am I pumping for if she is eating over what I pump.

Even if she is eating more, she is still getting it. Let her have both, and be happy that she is healthy enough to eat so much ..

Good luck

Hunny it is your choice to bf or formula feed. If you want to keep breastfeeding I can give you some advice.

Drink plenty of water and make sure you are eating. If you are not getting enough calories in your body it will not produce milk. What type of pump do you have? If its not a good one either get a good electric one..medela pump in style is awesome and about 250 bucks. Or see if you can rent one from the hospital. I've been having great luck with fenugreek tablets. Take 3 tablets 3 to 4 times a day.
Pump pump pump. How often is she eating? You should be pumping as often as she eats. Try to get on a schedule. You should be pumping at least every 3 hours...even through the night. And pump for 5 to 10 minutes after your breasts stop producing milk. This will signal your body that it needs to make more milk.

Eh I feel you should keep trying, don't give up yet...but if its just creating more stress....like you need anymore of that....go ahead and switch to formula!
Talk to the hospital first and let them know your decision.
Or do both let them feed her what they have and if they run out use formula. I'm not sure if that works for a preemie!
Definitely talk with her doctors let them know your conceren. Maybe they can get you a lactate consultant. Either way good luck and I hope your baby gets to come home soon. Formula feeding is not the end of the world.

I called her Nurse an let her know what I was thinking an she told me to come in tomorrow an talk with her Dr.An she said that since she is solittle they would probably give her donor breastmilk.I don't care as long as she is eating an gaining weight so she can come home.

How much are you getting when you pump? Maybe they just have frozen milk but not fresh milk. (They don't like to use frozen). I would hate to see you quit because of a misunderstanding! Either way it's your choice though. I hope everything works out ok!

The same thing happened to me. I pumped and pumped and got less than 2 ounces a day!!! I was drinking insane amounts of water and pumping every 2 hours but to no avail. After two weeks of pumping, crying and feeling just totally embarrassed when I had to hand in my collection bottle with milk barely covering the bottom   Igave up bf for my sanity. By that point my daughter was already on donor breastmilk anyway because I just wasn't making enough. I felt like the only person in the world who couldn't make milk!!!
