spotting on the pill

posted 18th Apr '12
I'm a little confused so I need some clarification! My pill pack says that if you start the pills the first day of your period, no back up is needed. but i have always heard it takes 2-3 cycles for your body to actually adjust to it and for it to work. which one is right??

also, i know that spotting while on the pills is usually breakthrough bleeding, but ive also been told that if it's your first pill pack and the spotting is a few days before your period, then it's more than likely implantation bleeding. which of these is right?

Sooo many different things have been said about bc its hard to weed out the truth.

first question, both are right. you should use back for the first couple months because it takes that long for it to be fully effective (that's how i ended up with my oldest   ). but after that you don't need backup.

and second, yes it's normal to spot when you're just starting.
