IUD

hi i never usually post in this forum so forgive me if this topic has been covered or asked. i was just wondering if any of you ladies that are ttc have ever had an iud? and if you think having it may be the reason your having trouble conceiving? 

thats the tube with copper in it is it not?

Some IUD's have copper in them, and some don't.

oh ok i want to use that as my contraception but i got told that once uve had that u can fall pregs again, its like having ur tubes tied

It's what I m getting in a few more weeks. Other friends who have had the Mirena have had no problems... I think Mirena is the non-copper one

i have friends who have it also who havent had any problems with it but i dont know anybody whos HAD it and is ttc.

Sorry, i meant to say they had no problems getting preg again when the IUD was removed

I have never heard more than 5 years, but i was told if after 5 years you still wanted to use it, they can put another one in.

oh ok on monday ill call the lady that is sorting it out for me and see if i can get it instead of implanon

im planning on getting one too but im nervous..

From what I've been told concieving after an IUD [the Mirena at least] is just like normal & there should be no complication.

I don't know anything more than word of mouth so don't take this all as fact, but I have seen on other TTC forums women who are having trouble after the IUD, but it could be the IUD and it could be other factors that they didn't know they had.

That being said I'm the proud aunt of a child conceived with Mirena in, and 2 of my friends are now pregnant and they had the IUD in when they conceived as well.

I have the Mirena (non copper) IUD, I'm having it removed in like 5 days, yay! I'm hoping we won't have trouble ttc once it's out. My best friend had Mirena also once she had it removed she didnt' have any problems getting pregnant again.
