Tanning question

posted 26th Apr
Ok, I've heard and researched that tanning while pregnant has no proven side effects on the unborn baby. Some doctors advise against it, but some don't... But anyway, I've tanned twice since I've been pregnant and every time I do, I just feel guilty, like I'm hurting my baby or something... SO my question is this... are spray on tans safe? Its getting to be warmer outside and I would much rather wear shorts, without blinding everyone with my white legs. So can I just get a fake tan, and do they look natural?

Yes, Mystic tans are safe..
it's just bronzer and vegetable dyes being sprayed on your skin..

I got a package of 15 of them last month, they really make me feel better

They look horrible IMO.. Me and a friend got one once.. it looked so bad I went home and washed most of it off.. she looked like an oompa lompa for a while.

How often do you have to go?

I get one at the end of every week...

and it depends on what kind of spray tan you get. if you get a mystic, they look very brown (except make sure to use a lot of barrier cream that they give you on your  hands and feet, otherwise they will be orange, since the skin is different)

if you just get a cheapo spray tan they can look really orange. So, I'd opt for the Mystic brand. (Or, even better, and if you're comfortable with it, there are places that you just get naked and a tech comes in and sprays it on for you, those are really really nice...but a little uncomfortable..lol)

and I don't know how someone could go home and wash it off? it takes four hours to set in, and once its set in, its REALLY on there for a week. I even took Acetone Nail polish remover around my nails to it (I didnt put enough barrier cream on the first time) and it didnt work...so washing it off is next to impossible?

I dont know a thing about spray on tans, but I do know my gf Corrin is an euthonist (sp?) and she's a skin FREAK and SHE spray-tans........so, it can't be bad for you - lol. She scolds the rest of us for tanning (well not me anymore because of my pregnancy) but she goes like once every week I think. Another option though, something i'm going to ask my dr about next week - Bath and Body Works has a gradual tanner lotion, its not even a fake bake tanner, its a regular body moisture and it has a gradual tanner in it! I've heard it works, so I bought some and I'm waiting to ask my dr if its safe!

You just said it takes for hours to set it..
I got in the shower within thirty minutes because I didn't like it.
So no, it isn't next to impossible if you do it before it sets in.

It wasn't a cheapo spray tan either.
