Thalasso Baby bath. Good or Bad?

posted 15th Apr '12
Hi ladies. There is a debate on my facebook among mothers/mother's to be/women.

I will translate the Info written under the video as best as I can.

The "Thalasso Baby Bath" is an original bath time method.
It was invented by Sonia Rochel who is an auxiliary in infant nursing in Paris France. This is the result of many years of observations and reflexion.
This Video shows some strong moments during the bath. In reality the bath lasts 10-15 minutes.
This bath is reserved for the newborn (0 to 2 months old).
This is a real care provided by a professional.
Parents please do not try this at home.

Now the debate is that some think this is outrageous and neglectful. Could cause dry drowning etc.

Others debate that this very much reproduces time in the womb and has to be extremely calming for a small baby.

Personally the only worry I would have is in regards to the jet from the tap directly on top of the head and could hit the soft spot. Other then that though, the baby seems very calm and comfortable and is clearly enjoying it.

What do you ladies think?

Looks relaxing to me, wish someone could give me a bath like that, lmao. If the nurse knows what she's doing, then go for it. If it's someone at home that's doing it for the first time then that could definitely be scary.

That baby looks super content.

I wouldn't do it myself, but I think it's interesting and if there was someone TRAINED in how to do it, I would be comfortable with it.

Yeah I thought the same thing. I did cringe when the jet hit the top of the head though lol. But I'm a worry wart. Hahahaha

I assume that's its not a forceful current though, It didn't worry me except getting in his face

I agree with this, it seems fine to me   but i don't know if i would unless a nurse would show me how first! But looked like the baby liked it lol

Some are really mad about this video. They are saying it can cause dry drowning, which is breathing in water that coats the lungs and prevents oxygen from being absorbed into the body. Something like that not sure lol.

I'm one of the few who is ok with it.

This is me...I see nothing wrong with it, except I could never put a baby's face in the water. It just goes against everything we know.

Babies instinctively do not breathe under water... so no, I don't see this as a bad thing.

it looks so calming and relaxing. I'm gonna find some nurse with a big-ass version of this bath to do this to me!
