Teen getting GED.

posted 13th Apr '12
How long did it take you to get it and what grade level did you start off with? I want to get mine but I don't want to be in there a really long time cause i don't like being away from LO.. And I'm not really smart at all.. I quit cause I kept failing the 6th grade. IF YOU HAVE NEGATIVE COMMENTS PLEASE DON'T PUT THEM!

If you didn't get past 6th grade, it's going to take a LOT of work to get your GED.

your post seems quite well written. maybe you're smarter than you think, OP!
plus, the GED is not the hardest test in the world. if you have a driver's license, you probably CAN swing it.

I made it to my junior year of high school. I got my GED in a matter of a month because I was advanced in the first place. I had to leave school thanks to getting diagnosed with 2 untreatable diseases and having my DS.

Almost a year. I would suggest going to your local public aid office. Here if your income is low enough you can do it for free and get help writing resumes. They also let you talk to career counselors.

It's legal in Louisiana to stop attending school that young? I'm not trying to sound bitchy that just seems odd to me. You can do it though, and you should! Getting your GED is a great idea

I stopped going at 14. I'm registered as homeschooled. It's not legal. If we got caught my mom would go to jail for 30 days. Pay a 150$ fine. I would have to go to school and mom would have to pay 50$ everyday I missed. But she knows I have like severe depression and I was getting far off from not passing or doing good and now I don't want to leave my baby.

That's some seriously neglectful parenting, depression or not.

Uhm no it's not when she had to come get me twice in a week from anxeity attacks and ended up having to bring me to the hospital to get my stomach pumped. I was so miserable in school.. I didn't want to go anymore and my mom just didn't want to lose me cause she almost did.. I don't care how stupid u say that is. I wasn't learning nothing my teachers would literally get in my face everyday and literally yell at the top of there lungs. And I was so tired of the snobby bitches. So my mom did the right thing. I don't are what you think. Just saying.

As a parent, part of your responsibility is to fulfill all your child's mental, physical, and educational needs. In an attempt to fulfill your mental needs, she's neglecting the educational, which is just as important. I HOPE she gets caught, if she's going to lie to the state about teaching you, someone else needs to be doing it.
