re: 33 weeks & 1 day ; Time for baby?!

posted 13th Apr '12
I was in the same situation as you. Though not hoping for labour and to have the baby. When they had noticed about 3 weeks ago I was dialated, they gave me a shot for the lungs but wouldn't do anything else. then a few days ago I had actually gotten farther along, and my water had actually broke as well. That baby was coming, and faster then expected. She needs to stay in intensive care for a very long time, until he is able to breathe and eat on his own with no problems. I do not wish this upon anyone and you should not be wishing about it either. Its the hardest thing a person has to go threw. I was 2 months premature.

I'm in the same boat! I pray every day that I make it to term and it just kills me to see women hoping to have their babies almost 2 months early.

Yes, I know what it feels like is a horrible situation. I did have my baby two months early and its the scariest thing a mother has to go threw.

Yeah its not a good feeling at all, and no one should have to go threw it. as well I am and 18 year old girl who is almost 19 single and living with a friend. I have my friends and family here for me, the hard part is not having the father in the picture, and who wont reply to any texts or calls from me about him.

That really is too bad   I'm glad you have friends and family to help you out though. Support is a huge help at this stage.

Quoting kr.r:" Not at 33 weeks."

My niece went into help syndrome and they did an emergency c-section at 27wks and the baby barely made it and had a 3 month hospital stay. In her case her liver was failing...so if OP's liver is failing then yes it would be a good idea to go ahead with a c-section, but otherwise give your baby a better chance at life by keeping her in. Your docs will keep a close watch on your blood pressure and you need to really think about whether you want to volunteer to have a NICU baby or if you want the possiblity of your baby coming home with you when you get discharged from the hospital!!

Actually if blood pressure is 2 high they will have baby delivered early 4 the babies and the mommas well being, other wise they can both be in trouble..how soon I don't know but I have heard of babies been born as early as 34 wks for this reason..hope the best 4 ur baby, but hope she/he can bake longer cause I don't think baby will be happy in the NICU...and neither will u seeing baby there... best of luck hun....!!!

When babies r born early is because thats the way it has 2 be, and no one not even docs can do anything about it...Its not moms fault thats just the way it is..we r no one to judge. anyone would do and think the same thing if we were her shoes...lets just say that things happen 4 a reason!!!

Hoping her baby to be born early is entirely within her control.

And it's disgusting...

I had my 1st baby at 32 weeks she was 3lbs 10 oz... she was in the NICU for 2 weeks only.... the reason for my baby being born early was because I had Preeclapsia and my High Blood Pressure was dangerous for her... But good luck... hope everything is OK !!!

Unless the baby is showing signs of distress then you shouldn't even want to have your baby yet. I do see any doctor in their right mind taking a baby at 33 weeks due to high blood pressure UNLESS the baby is in distress. You really shouldn't wish to have the baby early. NICU is not somewhere I'd ever want my baby to be.
