Down Syndrome.... Lifting up their heads?

Ok I will admit, I'm starting to feel like a bad mother. John is now 7 months old and still is not able to lift up his head. He gets lots of tummy time, we exercise him like the PT tells us too.. Still nothing. He is excelling at everything else though. He is eating well.. He's gained 2 lbs in 2 weeks which bring him up to 13.4 lbs. The doctor keeps asking me why he's not lifting up his head and learning to sit up by now. When I tried to explain to him that we see the PT twice a week and we work with him at home, he said "well obviously your not working with him enough". Has anyone else had this problem. The PT says it's just due to his low muscle tone in his neck, but the doctor made me feel like a idiot when I told him that.

I'm sorry but the pedi is an idiot, just keep up the practice

I know.. He's the stupid fill in while our real pedi is away.. He aggravates me to the extreme. He doesn't say things like "a child with trisomy 21" or "a child with down syndrome" He says " a mongoloid child" UGG I just want to punch him in the face!!!

i would switch doctors.. seriously.. my baby has congenital hypothyroid and a heart defect and if his ped ever called him a "Cretin" i would probably slap him and end up in jail.. those are not considered PC terms for a reason.. jerk..

It took everything in me not too. But the guy was about 80 years old so he's stuck in the 60s....

I'd whoop his smurfing ass right in the doctor's office. Someone who talks like that SHOULD NOT be able to practice. Period. He should be terminated.
