Quoting *Mrs Cherry*:" Are you going to the military treatment facility? Because if you are, that would explain not being charged. ETA If I remember right, with standard, cost share is only if you see a civilian provider."

Nope. I go to a German facility.

love tricare prime for where i live! Our clinic on post is only good if you have a cold and wanna wait 3 hours to get meds. They don't provide any prenatal care, radiology, etc. So i lucked out and got an automatic referral to an off post provider. Referrals here are pretty quick as well. Every other place i've been, it seems like it takes months to get a referral. I really think it all depends on what's provided where you live. I know a few people that have said that standard worked better for them, but for me it's deff prime!

Hi. I work at Beneficiary Web Services for TRICARE Management Activity. I recommend that you go to the official TRICARE Website at tricare.mil and use the TRICARE Plan Finder on the homepage. You do not have to enter Personally Protected Information or use a password to access the site, as one has to do for TRICARE Online. You simply follow the plan finder's questions and it will tell you whether you qualify for TRICARE Prime at your present location or whether you would use TRICARE Standard where you live. Once you have done that, use the profile on the homepage to see what the plan offers. I'm certain that this will give you the answers you need.

I have a question for you. I am on my step fathers plan because I am still a full time college student and I had a baby on the 27th of January and she was in the NICU for a week which I got a 54k medical bill for...I thought tricare was supposed to cover her for the first 30 days or am I wrong?

I'm very sorry to tell you that your baby would not be covered at all under the TRICARE Young Adult Program (TYA). TYA was a late addition to TRICARE plans to cover a provision in the Affordable Health Care Act that gave parents the option to extend coverage of their children under their own plans, since TRICARE was not affected by the Affordable Health Care Act. It was never intended to cover the children of TYA enrollees and only offers an individual option.

No I am not in the young adult program because I am not 24, I am 22.

Unfortunately, it's still the same situation. You are covered for your pregnancy, but not for the baby's care after delivery, as the TRICARE benefit only extends to children, but not to the grandchildren of military sponsors. I recommend that you call (703) 681-1770 (TRICARE Management Activity) and ask to speak to someone in customer service. They will fill you in on the benefit limits and assist you, if possible, with the claims. I'm not optimistic on the latter, though, since it appears that your baby will not be covered.
