ok, so I've been wondering what early fetuses look like. Can you describe what the earlier ones (12 weeks or so)looked like? (size, form, etc.)

i agree with turning things into positive learning experiences.. when one of our dogs drowned in our pool, I used that to teach them pool safety...

i dont know with the combination of me being pregnant and my daughter being sensitive if that would be such agood idea...lol

Quoting ~Tattooedmama~:“ That's what we did. My husband and I went first. And yes, a lot of the specimens were full grown males. ... [snip!] ... see them without all the proper parts. I feel like i would be doing them an injustice by leaving out any part of the anatomy.”
This is my thought:
Our kids are surrounded everyday with images that are just flat-out unrealistic of the human body. They are made at such a young age to be ashamed and to want to change themselves. They are also suckered into thinking that somehow the body is a sexual object and must be shown off as such. We as parents try and shield them, but c'mon, it is everywhere! We even catch ourselves feeling it. I know I do.
If the bodies are not portrayed in a sexual way, just as bodies, your kids will view them as such. The organs have a purpose, they aren't naughty or bad. Sexuality is special, it isn't forbidden. To me, if you hide it from your kids, yet they see boobs busting out of shirts all over tv and magazines and men falling all over themselves to see it, kids will naturally be curious about what the big deal is all about.

Well you definitely know your kids best! Some kids are very sensitive and that isn't a bad thing at all! I wish some of that empathy would rub off in my house raging in testosterone.

its so different... you have the boys running around, clubbing each other with wiffle (whiphel?) bats... throwing rocks... "hunting" the dogs....

and then you have little Brianna Lysette... who is humming to herself while she makes a bed for our shihtzu (while grabbing MY pillow to put in the dogs bed...shes playing with her barbies and wants to do a tea party...

I was a tomboy.. i didnt raise her to be like that... she did that on her own..lol

Quoting ~Tattooedmama~:“ HAha, I was a nerd too. Just one with a shaved head and lots of piercings. My kids have no choice on ... [snip!] ... of the way I've raised them. Everything we do is somehow made into a learning experience. They love it though. ”

Yeah, my parents (my mother and step-father) always took us all on these huge family trips to learn about our American history (New England for the Revolutionary War, The South (even though we used to live in S. Carolina) for the Civil War things, the southwest (prior to moving to AZ) for that whole pioneer/cowboy thing...and, well, you get the point).....and I loved every second of it.

I was the nerd who dressed like a "chola" and wore too much eye make-up because I thought it made me look tough. Needless to say, I never fit in with my friends because I actually went to school! HAHA!

I am definitely raising my son to love history, culture, science, different genres of GOOD music (not Brittany Spears, to say the least! HAHA!) and anything I feel will benefit his life. Good job, mama!

They were beautiful. The 12 weeker was actually a lot bigger than I thought she would be. She was about 6 inches from the top of her head to her bum. It looked pretty much the same way it does in all the pregnancy books.

You should have one. If it's anything as beautiful as your other children, you'd need a shotgun to guard the door!

lol... YES!!!!

i would like to see the fetus exhibit...its one thing to see them in photos and given measurements... but it would be another to see them in proximity to a womans body...

i would just have to wait till after baby....I'd probably have a panic attack
