I'm glad too. And honestly looking back I have no clue why I ever used in the first place, but we don't have hindsight, if we did people wouldn't make as many of the negative choices they do. It's fine to be upset about it, and it's good you are and even better that you would never do that it's great it really is, but she is and she does, and she is trying to get help now to have the best possible outcome, so don't judge, when you judge it makes it even harder for the people to want to get help

Yeah, I understand that last sentence quite well. And I don't think I'm better because I never did drugs. I just can't stand the fact that she did it while pregnant. But whats done is done. Hopefully she will get help..

How is giving you the exact same treatment that you give others hypocrite? Being understanding to one who is using drugs then not being to another in the same situation about addiction would be hypocritical.

This is by far not the same situation.

I'm not saying you're better, I'm saying it is even better that you would never do it. You can't stand the fact and that's fine like I said you're entitled to your own opinion, but in posts like this sometimes it's best to put your feelings aside and look at it from her point of view, try and put yourself in her shoes, or even a medical professionals shoes. They may judge her yes, but they would never openly judge her because they know it could deter her from actually seeking treatment. I'm sure she will get help.

She was being hypocritical by judging me based on how I feel about one subject. That's what I was saying. It's very wrong what this girl did. Using drugs while pregnant.Think about it. Is that not totally wrong? I've known people who did drugs and stopped when they knew they were pregnant. It CAN be done. I know a few people actually. She just needs to go get help. She never once mentioned anything about getting help. So that is a cause for concern. No? She just asked if it would hurt her baby since she's been doing it for weeks.

I used to work for CPS. Trust me I've seen it too. Some can stop others can't. Everyone's body reacts differently to addiction. To some it becomes hellish and they really can't stop. Some don't have positive support around them to help them get the courage to seek help. Using it while pregnant does not mean that OP does not feel bad or does not know it is wrong while she is using it.

Also asking if it could in fact hurt her baby is in some way asking for help. Not everyone can open themselves 100% at once. Some will just give a hint in the hopes that another will catch on. They need support and help regardless.

We never said it was right, but I personally cannot blame a person who is suffering from addiction for using. It is an illness and often the illness will be louder then the will power of the addict. Seeking help is a HUGE step and criticism is the last thing that individual needs.

You're right, it probably took a lot for her to post what she did.I just get angry about stuff easily. Some of the stuff I said, I shouldn't have said.I hope she seeks help and succeeds.

It seems really smurfed up to me you waited so long to be asking these questions. I understand addiction is addition though, and people do stupid things. From what I've heard anything after 20 weeks has the potential to show traces in your placenta... but if they don't test your placenta then it won't show up. My biological mother used cocaine sporadically throughout her whole pregnancy with me. I have suffered from learning disorders. It was explained to me that although my IQ is high, my right and left brain have a very hard time communicating back and forth. I had ADD I have pretty much grown out of it. Cocaine when used in pregnancy causes problems with memory retrieval. Mainly in math and memorizing facts I KNEW the information and answers, but it is extremely difficult to get to the spot in my brain where it is. Cocaine can also cause severe eye problems. The muscles in my eyes were pretty weak... when I was trying to learn how to read they did not have enough strength to focus on anything for more than a few seconds.. soon my eyes would make me see double and triple of everything. It cost A LOT of money to correct this problem. Let me remind you, these problems were from MINIMAL use. I don't know of the exact problems caused from taking pills, but I am assuming you are talking about optiates. I know that infants suffer from severe withdrawal from these. It can kill them in utero and also from withdrawal. Benzodiazepines are worse on the body.
These things you have done are SERIOUS and even considered a crime worth prison time in some states. CPS will not hesitate to take your child away if it is proven you have done these things during your pregnancy. You may or may not be able to get them back.
If you went and got help now, they might see that you are willing to do what it takes to give your child the best life possible. The mere fact that you did these things while you knew you were pregnant really goes to show how much of a problem you have. Do you really want a child with severe problems? Even if you can't see obvious defects the struggle your child will go through due to you doing this is unforgivable. I'm sure those things can cause serious physical and emotional problems in the child as well. Think of your child every time you are tempted to do a line or take a pill. Imagine giving that to your child when they are newborn.

Um if she has sought treatment and stayed clean and the baby tests clean CPS will more than likely not do anything. It is good that she did this no, but if you try and look to a positive side (and trust me I am in no way shape or form condoning what she did) she said she has only used 6 times. And yes, I know just one time is enough to cause damage, but she's trying to get help now to stop. It would make it a lot easier for people to get the help if others would put their judgments aside and just help her.

I said she should get help. >.> Sorry my post seems judgmental, but I'm simply bringing to her attention that even if she has only used six times, it could have a profound effect. I suffered my whole life because of those times my mother did coke. I do understand that addicts do these things and I'm glad she is getting help now.

I know you did, and trust me like I said I know those 6 times can bring horrible results, and you know this first hand and that's very sad. But for someone who's been on the results end of what this can do to a baby you would think you would hold judgement back and just offer the supportive advice, which I know you did do. I'm not trying to sound like a bitch, I'm just saying kwim?

Actually for being personally affected I thought I did a really good job of holding back judgement and offering my advice.

Probably. And honestly I don't know why I take this so personally about the judgment, but for some reason this time it kind if bothers me. Don't know why. But you were less harsh than some of the other responses and you did offer good informative advice
