Temp charting ?

posted 24th Apr
So I've never charted my tempurature religiously. Every now and then I would randomly check my temp throughout the day after O just to see if it was elevated like they say it's supposed to be....but not first thing in the morning the way you're supposed to do it. Anyways, after my mc I'm not positive I ovulated, but I think I have because of EWCM....but when I checked my temp it was like 98.1-2 and when I've checked it other months after O it has been as been between 98.5-99. For those of you that have charted, can the raised temp vary from month to month? I know I've been in the 97's definately indicating I'm not fertile...but can it change that drastically?

lol, thanks...yeah charting sounds complicated. I usually have some ovulation symptoms so I should just go off of that...or try opk's. Actually when I got home from work just now I took my temp and it was 98.7...soooo yeah I can't really rely on the temp thing if I'm not even doing it how you're supposed to...

It's the first temp of the morning. First thing before you even talk or get up to pee. Just roll over and take it. I have a baseline of 97.3........ I only temp in the 2ww and once or twice after AF. SO if you temp at the same time every day it should give you a pretty accurate reading........
the reason I only temp after I O is that if it goes up continually for 16 days, then you are pregnant and no need to test.
I know that for ladies who are pregnant, they had one day that their temp dropped usually aroun 7-8 dpo for implantation then back up. Last month when I was temping it went up until the day AF was due then went from 98.3 one day back down to 97.7, so I knew without a doubt that I wasn't pregnant.
HOPE THAT HELPS...........

First off temping is good for many things and can help you notice if you have a possible leutal phase problem, irregular cycles, sporatic temps etc. whereas OPK's can't do that. Besides most people don't use OPK's properly to even get accurate results and are mislead by thinking that they are going to ovulate within 24 hours after a positive when it can be a lot longer than that.

anyways taking your temp during the day is useless it isn't going to tell you anything and won't help you know when you ovulated. Doing little activities can elevate your temp even a wee bit, which is why it is reccomended that you take it first thing in the morning before getting out of bed, otherwise you are just wasting your time.

but to answer your question yes temps can vary post ovulation from cycle to cycle, they won't always be the same.

Thanks for your answers...I knew that morning temp beforedoing anythingwas the best...but just out of curiousity I would take it during the day. I think I will TTC w/o temping for now, but if I run into problems then I'll resort to that. Thanks again

I wasn't good at charting either. Have you tried Babyzone.com and went to their calander? It gives you hearts on your most fertile days. But I think it only works if you are regular with menastration. This is how I got pregnant both times. Just a thought.

I haven't been to that particular website but I have been to others that predict your fertile days. When we were TTC with the last one we would BD every other day starting CD10 and then on CD14 and 15. That worked! I am usually right on the money w/ a 28 day cycle.

I use webmd ovulation calendar, it seems to be really easy to use. You just put in your LMP and it calculates stuff for you. Then you can look at the calendar by you ovulation or your pregnancy....
