hey yall....well my daughter was a preemie and i just got a call from the infant care center and they wanted to come check her out....she was a 28 week baby so i guess they only do this to moms with babies that young cuz my sisters baby was 32 and they didnt check on him....i was just wondering if anyone knew what exactly they are gonna check for?? thanks

Sorry this has nothing to do with your post, but how big was she when she was born and how long did she have to stay in the hospital? That's great she's pulled through!!

she was 2pounds nine onces....ya a little thing...she was in the hospital for 1month and 3 weeks......i cant believe what a trooper she was....and still is....we went in for a CAT scan the other day(long story)but the doctor said she has the brain waves of a four month old(which she is) instead of a month and a half old(which she should be) im so proud of her

I think it is probably just a developmental follow up. My twins were born at 27 weeks and the hospital asked us if we wanted certain organizations to follow up with us and check the developmental progress of the girls. I haven't heard from them yet and we've been home for almost 2 months now so I'm not sure when they'll be contacting us.

My girls were due March 22, 2008 but were born December 24, 2007

My son was born at 36 weeks and he has these follow ups as well. Someone comes to your house and just tracks his development and if there is anything you want to work on with him anything you feel he should be doing they will work on it with you. It's really helpful actually, since they see other parents with preemies they give you a better idea of where your child is at with milestones.

My daughter was a 28 weeker, and we never had anyone come to our house! ( I wish!) We did have several appointments we had to go to though! Hope everything goes well!

oh my gosh that is so close!! my daughter was due march 16th and came out dec 18th......but my doctors kept changing my due date when i was pregnant...they first went by LMP and then went by her sonogram....so for awhile i didnt know exactly when i was due

hmmm that is weird cuz i was almost sure if they were under 30 they should come and check....but it might just be virginia.....did they even ask u if u wanted someone to check a few months after she was born?

oh ok thank u....i was just kinda hoping they didnt come by and poke and mess with her too much...i luv the fact that someone is coming so i can have peace of mind knowing if shes doing good or if we just ned to have a few classes or something......

That is close and funny enough March 16th (your due date) is my birthday. My due date never changed, was the same from the beginning and it was a total surprise when the girls came early.

I think it probably depends on the insurance or hospital. I was never offeredhome visit. Like I said though, we went to lots of appointments - eye appointments, physical therapy, pediatrician checks - and then we had phone apointments with a nutritionist. So I'm sure it's the same, they're just nice enough to come to you over there!
